CCTI: Wake-Durham Educator Preparation Program for Resident Teachers

CCTI: Wake-Durham is an in-district educator preparation scholarship program designed to support you as a beginning educator through effective practices, essential knowledge and skills for student success. Our program is an NCDPI-approved Educator Preparation Program (EPP) for those who would like to earn their license through the Residency Pathway. Participants complete all program requirements while teaching full-time in their districts.

If you are accepted into CCTI: Wake-Durham, proficient completion of all program requirements leads to your North Carolina Professional Educators License.

Check your eligibility

To apply to CCTI: Wake-Durham, you must meet the following eligibility requirements:

• Teach or be in pursuit of a teaching position in one of the following areas in the Wake County Public School System or Durham Public Schools:
  • Elementary Education
  • Secondary Education (Middle and High)
    • Math
    • Science
    • Social Studies
    • English Language Arts
  • K-12 Additional Content Areas
    • English as a Second Language
    • Fine/Performing Arts
    • World/Classical Languages
    • Health/Physical Education
  • CTE: Career and Technical Education
  • Special Education: General Curriculum

• Have a 2.7 or higher cumulative GPA.
• Have completed 24 credit hours with a C or better or earned a passing score on the NC content exam for your licensure area.

Apply

For admission to CCTI’s Fall Cohort or Spring Cohort, there are two application windows for the following candidates:

• New hires who qualify for a residency license
• Candidates with a permit to teach who qualify for a residency license
• Candidates with an emergency license who qualify for a residency license

Denial letters will communicate what is needed to qualify. Payroll deduction begins in August for the Fall Cohort and in January for the Spring Cohort.

Fall Cohort Application Window: February 1–March 31

For a June 17 start date for special education educators, July 15 for course 1. Application decisions will be announced on April 8. Special education general curriculum educators can only apply for the Fall Cohort.

Spring Cohort Application Window: September 1–October 31

For a January 6 start date. Application decisions will be announced on November 8. Special education general curriculum educators are not eligible to enroll in the Spring Cohort.

Submit the following as part of your application

• Official transcripts
• Licensure exam score report if you have them
• Copy of emergency license (if applicable)
• Resume

Once you have been accepted to CCTI: Wake-Durham, you will

1. Complete the Residency License (RL) Form
2. Complete the enrollment module and Canvas instructions
3. Attend and participate in the CCTi Orientation
4. Begin Course 1 in July or January
