School Counselor 

Ellen Bryce has been at Turner Creek since 2022. This is her eighth year in education. Before becoming a school counselor, Ms. Bryce worked as a middle school social studies teacher in Harnett County. Ms. Bryce has been interested in education since she was a child and has always loved being in school, both as a student and teacher.

She enjoys being active outside. She has completed 4 marathons, 1 ultra marathon, and 3 triathlons. She also coaches Girls on the Run at Turner Creek. In addition, Ms. Bryce loves reading, traveling, and Taylor Swift. She was able to attend the Eras Tour, which was one of the best experiences of her life. 

She lives with her cat, Patches. 

School Counselor

This is Laura’s second year at Turner Creek and fifth year as a school counselor. She is passionate about her career and loves working with students both individually and in groups. Before becoming a counselor, she worked with the YMCA of the Triangle.

In her free time, Laura enjoys crafting, attending concerts with her dad, and volunteering with Comfort Zone Camp. She is also an animal lover with 2 cats (Cheddar and Luna) and 1 dog (Maisie). Her goals this year are to read more books, attend more concerts, and finally travel to Scotland!

School Psychologist

Ms. Hintermeister is in her 3rd year as a school psychologist and has been at Turner Creek since 2022. School psychologists partner with teachers, families, and school staff to make sure all students can succeed academically, socially, behaviorally, and emotionally. Ms. Hintermeister enjoys working directly with students to teach social/emotional skills, collecting data, and consulting with teachers and families to meet student needs. 

Outside of school, Ms. Hintermeister enjoys going to the mountains, spending time with family and friends, and reading a good book next to her cat, Franny. Ms. Hintermeister is an Apex native and was a student at Turner Creek!

School Nurse

Carol has worked as a school nurse for 7 years in the WCPSS system. She has been a pediatric nurse for over 30 years, working in many different areas, including Emergency Department, PICU, and NICU. All of which have prepared her for school nursing. She loves meeting and working with students of all ages. Carol is a graduate of UNCG School of Nursing. Outside of work, she loves spending time with family, gardening, and traveling. School Social Worker

Ms. Lakey is the proud school social worker for Turner Creek Elementary School. Ms. Lakey worked as a school social work intern for over two years within Pitt, Buncombe, and Jackson counties before starting her career at Turner Creek Elementary School in July 2023. As the school social worker, Ms. Lakey serves as a liaison between the home, school, and community, ensuring that students and families have the resources and services needed to achieve school success. Ms. Lakey also serves as the McKinney Vento and ESSA liaison, supporting students and families in transition or involved in foster care. 

Outside of school, Ms. Lakey values spending quality time with her friends, family, and pets. Ms. Lakey also enjoys hiking, trying new restaurants, and completing jigsaw puzzles in her free time.
