Mr. Clark was born in upstate NY. His family moved to NC when he was in 4th grade, so he considers himself a North Carolinian. He has worked in education for over 30 years, graduating with a B.S. in Elementary Education from UNC-Greensboro and a Masters in School Administration from N.C. State.  He began his career as a teacher and earned his AIG and National Board Certification. He has had opportunities to work with students in some capacity from grades K-6. After teaching for 14 years, Mr. Clark served as assistant principal at Millbrook Elementary for 5 ½ years before becoming the principal at Root in April 2013. Mr. Clark is married with 4 boys. He enjoys spending time with his family, travelling, and exercising. Being from NY, he is a huge Syracuse Orange and New York Yankees fan. It is important to him that the Root community works together to meet the needs of all of its students, striving to ensure that they enjoy a productive, positive experience while attending Root Elementary.  

Mrs. Hale is a Raleigh native and grew up in Wake County Schools. Mrs. Hale has her undergraduate degree from Meredith College, AIG licensure and a Masters in School Administration from UNC Chapel Hill. Go Heels! She taught in Durham Public Schools at Merrick-Moore Elementary before coming to Wake County for her internship. Mrs. Hale is married and has two little girls. She enjoys spending time with her family, traveling and the beach. Mrs. Hale is excited to be a part of the Root family!
