Hanna Anderson, Instructional Assistant

Originally from Pennsylvania, but raised in Raleigh, Ms. Anderson graduated from Meredith College in 2021 with a BS in child development. She first felt at home at Root when she did her student teaching in the spring of 2021 and knew when she wanted to return to teaching in 2022 Root was the place for her. She enjoys spending time on the water, going for walks, and helping make a difference in shaping young minds.

Wini Boswell, Teacher

Mrs. Boswell is originally from Wilson, NC.  She graduated from NC State University with a BA in English and received her teaching license from Meredith College.  She has experience teaching in grades K-5.  She joined the Root family in 2010.  Mrs. Boswell has been married for 19 years and is the proud mother of 3 children: Emma, William, and Olivia.  She loves going to church, spending time with her family, camping, and reading.

Tammy Cloutier, Instructional Assistant

Ms. Cloutier was in born Roanoke Rapids, NC and grew up in Gasburg, VA near Lake Gaston. She graduated from Peace College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. After college, Ms. Cloutier was a legal assistant and later a co-owner of a coffeeshop. While owning the coffeeshop, she became a mother to Bram and Ella Grace and decided to take on the job of full time mom. She spent much of her time at Root as a parent volunteer, so it was a natural decision to become a Kindergarten assistant in 2018. When Ms. Cloutier is not at school, she enjoys reading, cooking, and spending time at her family’s cottage on Oak Island.

Christina Harrell, Teacher

Ms. Harrell graduated from East Carolina University with a degree in Psychology and a minor in Child Development and Family Relations.  After college, she taught Pre-Kindergarten and loved it so much she went on to get her Birth-Kindergarten teaching license.  Ms. Harrell has two daughters, Peyton and Hannah, who are also students at Root Elementary.  In her free time, Ms. Harrell loves spending time with her family and taking their sweet dog Willow for walks.

Susan Johnson, Instructional Assistant

Mrs. Johnson was born and raised in Wilson, NC.  She graduated from UNC with a degree in Recreation Administration and worked with Raleigh Parks and Recreation for several years before she became a mom.  She has been married to her wonderful husband, Graham, for 32 years.  She worked at White Memorial Presbyterian Church's pres-school and MMO programs before starting at Root in 2010.  She has a very strong connection with this school since her 3 sons - Gray-27, Tyler-25 and Charlie-19 were all Root graduates.  She enjoys spending time with her family, playing tennis and going to the beach.

Amy Lawrence, Teacher

Mrs. Lawrence was born in Birmingham Alabama and grew up in Spartanburg SC. She attended Belhaven College in Jackson Mississippi and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. She worked in the Jackson Public School system for nine years teaching first and second grade and working as a Reading Recovery and literacy intervention teacher. Mrs. Lawrence moved to Raleigh with her family in 1998. She joined the Root family in 2002. She has taught second grade and kindergarten at Root. Mrs. Lawrence loves teaching kindergarten and especially loves teaching her students to read and helping to inspire in them a lifelong love of reading. She has been married to her husband Stephen for 29 year and has four sons: Justin, Matthew, Ryan and Noah. She enjoys watching her son play soccer and lacrosse, playing with her dog Zoey, reading, and spending time at the beach with her family.

Allison Paysour, Teacher

Mrs. Paysour was born in Charlotte, North Carolina.  For her undergrad, she went to the University of North Carolina at Charlotte where she obtained a BA in Child and Family Development (B-K) in 2002.   She taught 1 year in Gaston County at the elementary school where she attended when she was little.  She even taught with a few of her former teachers.  Mrs. Paysour came to Root for the start of the 2003 school year.  She loved the family feel of the small school and has been here ever since.  After teaching for 6 years, she attended Campbell University and obtained her master’s degree with honors in 2010.  Mrs. Paysour enjoys spending time with her husband (Chris) and their girls.  She loves singing, going to plays (especially Les Misérables & Wicked ), and spending time with loved ones and friends.

Hannah Stidley, Instructional Assistant

Ms. Stidley was born in Savannah, Georgia and has lived in several places throughout childhood while her dad was in the military. Her parents have both since retired to Topsail Beach, NC. During her undergraduate at The University of North Carolina Wilmington she interned at the local Boys and Girls Club and was also Assistant Director for a youth summer camp. After graduating from UNCW, she spent a year as a flight attendant and then decided to pursue her passion: teaching! In her free time she enjoys reading, watching movies, and going to the beach! Ms. Hannah is so excited about joining the Root family this year!
