Sonnia Reaves, Instructional Assistant

Ms. Reaves was born and raised for the first 15 years of her life in Lumberton, NC. She and her family moved to Staten Island, New York, in 1988 where she finished her high school years. Ms. Reaves returned to NC in 1995. She had known since the age of 8 that she wanted to work in a school with children after being inspired by her 3rd-grade teacher, Ms. Williams.  Ms. Reaves worked various jobs, but the most rewarding was working as a house monitor for a group home for at-risk teens. Working at the group home led her to become a foster mom and to finally look into working for the school system. Ms. Reaves started as a 1:1 TA for Wake County in October 2006.  She joined the Root family in February 2012. Ms. Reaves attended Wake Technical Community College where she completed some Early Childhood classes.  She has been a Pre-K TA for over 10 years and, as she always says, " I love my babies ". Ms. Reaves loves to cook, sing, and spend time with her husband, children, and her fur baby Izzy.
