Hello Yates Mill Families!  My name is Emily Shaw and I am a First Grade Teacher here at YMES.  I am looking forward to my 15th year teaching!!

 

Growing up I lived in South and North Carolina and still have family residing in both.  I come from a family of teachers and knew early on that working with children was a passion of my own.  I am an alumnus of UNC (Go Heels!) where I received my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education.  After graduating from UNC, I moved to Raleigh, where I began working at Yates Mill. My husband and I have two sons, David (4) and Leighton (1). Every day I strive to instill a love of learning in all of my students. I love being a part of the Yates Mill family and look forward to sharing this special place with you!  Let’s have a great school year!
