I am a graduate of Meredith College. This is my 24th year of teaching. I have taught 1st through 4th grade and now I get to teach KINDERGARTEN!!!! I started working at YMES when my son was going to kindergarten because I truly believe Yates Mill is the best school in Wake County! My husband, James, and I have 2 boys, Hudson (15) and Taylor (14). Both boys are in high school now. By the end of the year, I’m sure the students will know all about my boys and our fur baby Charlie Girl!

As a child, I did not enjoy school. As a result, I was eager to become the teacher that made learning fun. Whenever possible I will share stories about my boys and Charlie Girl, joke around, get the kids moving around, anything to keep the students engaged in their learning.

I live by the motto that happiness is a choice. In my classroom, I will model being present, working hard, being compassionate, working as a team, and choosing happiness throughout the day. I believe that when a student knows that you genuinely care, they will be motivated to reach their highest potential. I have included a quote that I feel represents me as a teacher. “I want to be that teacher that when my children look back on their education, they feel love in their hearts, have a smile on their faces and can truly say they knew I cared!”
