Career Development
Career Services is an on-campus career development service that operates under the School-to-Career Division of Career and Technical Education within the Wake County Public School System. It is the central hub for the career and leadership development for Heritage High School students. School-to-Career prepares every student to make knowledgeable career choices through academic rigor and work-based learning experiences.

Careers Electric™ Summer Academy
Careers Electric™ Summer Academy - Wake Tech is offering a 6-week summer program (June 15 – July 27) for rising seniors. Perks: Earn a $2,000 stipend, 6 college credits, and a pre-apprenticeship. Schedule: Mon-Wed at Southern Wake Campus; Thu-Fri paid on-the-job training. Cost: Tools and materials provided.
Deadline: Apply by March 29.
Required Online Info Sessions: March 19 or 24 at 6 p.m.
Eligibility: Current juniors/seniors legally able to work in the U.S.

North Carolina Central University Summer Immersion Experience in Biotechnology
This program is FREE, and students who are selected will receive a $1,000 stipend at the end of the experience.
What you’ll learn:
Drug Discovery & Biotechnology
Financial Literacy & Entrepreneurship
This immersive summer experience is designed for 10th and 11th grade students who are curious about science, innovation, and future careers in STEM.

Summit Education: 2026 Summer ProgramsSummit Education organizes virtual summer programs empowering the next generation of scientists and leaders. In 2026, students have the opportunity to apply to the following programs:
- Summit STEM Fellowship (SSF): SSF helps students explore diverse STEM fields and career pathways. Students learn from 50+ mentors from Harvard, Stanford, and MIT and build core life skills for high school, college, and beyond. The program requires a flexible 10–15 hours per week, allowing students to attend alongside other summer commitments.
- Summit Research Scholars (SRS): SRS provides students with a comprehensive foundation on how to get started with research. Students learn key research methods and technical skills, including literature review, research design, Python, data science, and statistics, and create their own original research proposal. The program emphasizes applying research to create real-world impact.

Duke OpTech Program
Duke Ophthalmic Technician Program for graduating seniors:
- Students may begin the program after earning a high school diploma. Students must be 18 at start of clinical rotations.
- No college degree or prerequisites required
- Earn a certificate in one year with eligibility to take the certification exam

Three months of in-person classroom instruction.
- Nine months spent getting hands-on experience in clinical rotations at Duke Eye Center
- Starting pay $22-$24/hr
- 90% employment rate after program completion
