Summer Programs for Career and Technical Education

WCPSS has several upcoming free summer events open to rising and current high school students! These Career and Technical Education programs are designed to show students some of the many career pathways available to them after graduation, and how they can achieve their goals to enter those industries. Register by March 31 to reserve your spot in one of these programs:

Career Explorer

Open to rising 9th Graders

July 8-12, 7:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

Students will participate in business immersions and workplace skill development workshops that support developing a career portfolio to aid in job placement. Learning is focused on resume writing, interviewing skills, workplace collaboration and creativity.

District C

Open to rising 9th-12th Graders

July 8-12, 7:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

Students will immerse themselves in a problem solving cycle for a local business partner. Students work in collaborative teams to learn about business needs, develop a solution and pitch their ideas to professionals. District C will happen at 9 schools spread out in each District of WCPSS (Wake STEM, Enloe, Knightdale, Heritage, Millbrook, Panther Creek, Green Level, Fuquay Varina and Cary High Schools).

This is an amazing opportunity for students to gain real experience and create professional connections. The program is also an excellent experience to write about for college applications!

Career Accelerator

Open to rising 10th-12th Graders

July 8-12, 7:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

Students will participate in hands-on experiences to increase awareness of the CTE pathways offered at each high school, with opportunities to learn about and experience CTE courses. Participants will get to take part in fun and engaging workshops that can be used to develop their career portfolios. Any student who successfully completes the program is eligible to receive a $150 stipend!

Lunch and Transportation will be provided for all events.
