Hello! I am excited to join the 4th grade team at Laurel Park Elementary School for the 2024-2025 school year. I have over twenty years of teaching experience in both general and special education settings. Most of my general education experiences have been in grades 3-6. I went to undergraduate at UNC-Chapel Hill to earn my Bachelor’s in Elementary Education and earned my M.Ed. from the University of Georgia in Special Education.

I believe that my role as a teacher is to first understand my students and their learning style and then provide the structure and the opportunities for creative expression while teaching the required standards. I believe students can reach their highest potential when aspects of both right brain learning—creativity, emotion and intuition, holistic thinking are paired with left brain thinking—linear thinking sequencing, mathematics, facts and logic.

Some of my hobbies include swimming, running and writing. I live in Raleigh and enjoy going to UNC football and basketball games.
