My name is Maria Haag. I am excited about my new position as a School Counselor at Yates Mill Elementary. I am a graduate of Texas A&M Central Texas University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology and a Minor in Psychology.  I received my Masters in School Counseling from Liberty University. 

 

I am the mother to a wonderful son named Jacob. He is a senior at the University of North Carolina Pembroke. 

 

My goal is to leverage my expertise in school counseling, along with my skills in fostering healthy emotional, social, and academic growth for children, in order to develop a comprehensive school counseling program that supports students' overall development and success.

 

Counseling activities offered are aimed to align with the ASCA National Model and include individual counseling, group counseling, social-emotional learning, classroom guidance lessons, observations, peer-to-peer mediations, and career exploration. School counseling sessions are solution-focused and brief in nature. They aim to identify the area of concern and provide resources and supports to mitigate barriers to success. 

 

When I am not working, I enjoy yoga, hiking, and chasing waterfalls. I love spending time with my son and traveling.
