Monthly Updates- March 2026

  • REMINDERS

    • Third quarter interim reports will be going home on Wednesday, March 4th. Please reach out to your child’s teacher with any questions. 
    • As the weather warms up, please provide your child with a water bottle that he or she can refill throughout the day.

     

    What We’re Learning

    ELA

    • Students continued reading Divided Loyalties with a focus on character perspectives and motivations. They also read an excerpt from the Declaration of Independence. Next, students will participate in a collaborative discussion on characters’ opinions of the Declaration. Students will also write a first-person narrative of a character’s perspective from Divided Loyalties. Finally, students will begin our third and final unit of module 3, which concludes with the creation of a Broadside from the Patriot perspective.

    Math:

    • Students began a unit on decomposing, adding, and subtracting fractions with like denominators. Next, they will decompose fractions into unit fractions and work with decomposing mixed numbers into fraction pairs. Students will also practice adding and subtracting fractions using area models and number lines.

    Science :

    • Ms. Bendixsen’s class is studying Earth and human activity. Understanding changes caused by human impact on the environment.
    • Ms. Norris’s class is finishing Earth’s place in the universe.
    • Mrs. Wunning’s class is finishing Earth’s changing history: the effects of slow and rapid changes.

    Social Studies

    • Students are learning about the significance of historical symbols in North Carolina from various perspectives.
