Reading:

• Summer Sun Risin’—Identify what the main character is doing throughout the story and what the sun is doing.
• The Moon and Its Patterns — Identify the main idea and key details in nonfiction texts
• Thanksgiving texts — identifying the central message of a story

Writing: Opinion and Informational

Math: Unit 3: place value (tens/ones)

Letterland: Beginning blends, Ending blends, and “ing”

Science: 

• Observe differences in the day and night sky.
• Determine how the sun’s pattern affects us on earth.
• Recognition of moon patterns.
• Recognition of patterns in the sky.

First Quarter Conferences:

Sign-ups for first quarter conferences have been sent out! We ask all families to sign up to meet with your child’s teacher. Conferences will be held virtually or in-person — your choice! If you do not see a time that works for your schedule, please reach out and schedule another time to discuss your child’s progress so far this year. We look forward to chatting with you!

Gratitude Day Lunch  

On November 19th, we will be hosting Gratitude Day at Hilburn Academy.  Family members are welcome to join their child for lunch and a gratitude activity in the cafeteria.  Families will enter the building through the gym/cafeteria entrance and will sign in before joining the students in the cafeteria.  Our lunchtime is from 10:55-11:25.

Report Cards:

Report cards go home, November 7th. The reports inside the envelope are yours to keep. Please sign the front of the envelope and return ASAP! We will use the same envelope for each report card sent home this year. Thank you!
