REMINDERS

• Second quarter report cards will be going home on Friday, January 30th, along with literacy testing home connect letters. Please reach out to your child’s teacher with any questions. 
• During the winter months, please be sure that your child is dressed in weather appropriate clothing as we have outdoor recess daily.

What We’re Learning

ELA

• Students began module 3 and learned about the different perspectives of the American Revolution and its causes.  Next we will continue our learning about the American Revolution while finding the GIST, the main idea and supporting details of a text, along with text structure. The students will finish with an End of Unit Assessment. Moving forward, the students will start reading a new text, Divided Loyalties. This text is organized as a play which helps students to identify and analyze the varying perspectives during the American Revolution.

MATH

• Students worked on comparisons using multiple strategies along with exploring decimal fractions and solving fractional problems. Next, we will dive deeper into understanding decimals. The students will then convert fractions to decimals. Moving forward, we will focus on place value understanding with decimals. We will also begin comparing decimals. Next week, students will add decimals and fractions with denominators of 10 and 100. They will finish the week with an assessment on these skills.

SCIENCE

• Our students will continue with their study of Earth’s biological evolution. This unit focuses on Earth’s changing surface.
