Taylor Vicinus

Hello! My name is Ms. Taylor Vicinus, and I am a 5th-grade teacher at JG, teaching all subject areas. I have been teaching at Jeffreys Grove since 2015, and love being an Eagle! I am originally from Fairfax County in VA, but have lived in NC since 2008. I taught for 3 years in Greenville, N.C, before moving to Wake County! I enjoy gardening, cooking, crafting, reading, and learning!

Cheryl Cardello

 I grew up on Long Island. I went to Indiana University (Go Hoosiers!). I love my dogs and I'm proud to be vegan for the animals. I have been at Jeffreys Grove since 2002. If you don't see me here, then I'm on my bike!

Norma Gómez

My name is Norma Gómez, and this is my third year at Jeffreys Grove Elementary as a fifth-grade Spanish immersion teacher. I was born and raised in Colombia and bring more than 15 years of teaching experience to the classroom. I earned my degree in Modern Languages from La Salle University with a focus on teaching English, Spanish, and French. I also hold postgraduate studies in Bilingual Education and School Neuropsychology.

I am passionate about creating meaningful learning experiences that connect students to language, culture, and the world around them. Beyond teaching, I enjoy traveling, exploring new cultures, reading, going to the movies, listening to music, and spending time with my family and my dog.

I am excited to continue supporting students on their educational journey and look forward to another wonderful year of growth and achievement at Jeffreys Grove.

Shirley Astudillo

My name is Shirley Astudillo and I am from Cali, Colombia, the beautiful country of coffee, the ocean of seven colors and the magnificent Amazon rainforest. I am a passionate, organized and disciplined teacher who believes in the power of pedagogical bond, inquiry processes and metacognitive skills to boost students’ desire and engagement to learn and develop skills to succeed.

I hold a bachelor degree in Foreign Language Teaching English and French from Universidad del Valle and I recently started my MA in TESOL at Greensboro University. I have had the opportunity to work at the elementary and university level back in  my country and I moved to the USA three years ago as an ambassador teacher. I have taught fifth grade for the three years I have been at JGMES.

In my free time I like traveling, skating, reading, and watching movies. I also enjoy drawing, painting, and dancing.
