Debbie Kelley, Instructional Facilitator & Literacy Coach
Hi! My name is Deborah Kelley. 2021 was my first year as the Instructional Facilitator and Literacy Coach. I began teaching in 2001 as a second grade teacher. I have also been an intervention teacher. I was born and raised here in Raleigh!! I married my highschool sweetheart and we have one daughter. We are huge hockey fans!!

Eman Ziada-Brandt, AIG
I am excited to be teaching AIG full-time here at Jeffreys Grove Elementary!
My Background: Both my parents are from Egypt and my step mother is from Venezuela. I was born in Pennsylvania and have lived both in the US and overseas. I am tri-ligual in English, Arabic, and Spanish.
Education: I graduated from Washington State University in 1996 with a degree in Psychology and a double minor in Sociology and Spanish. I went to graduate school to get my Master's in Teaching in 2001, and have been teaching ever since. I am certified to teach K-6, K-12 Spanish, K-12 Reading Specialist, and AIG. I am National Board Certified. I have experience in teaching 2-6 grades all subjects and AIG.
About Me: My husband and I moved to NC in 2006 from WA. I have 2 sons Zakariya (Ziko) who is currently going to college at Washington State University, and Bassil who is currently going to Enloe High School.
I love to travel all over the world and experience new things, go camping, boating, read, and play games with my family and friends.
I look forward to an amazing year!

Lina Cuartas, Intervention & ESL
My name is Lina Cuartas. I was born and raised in Colombia and moved to North Carolina in 2012. I hold a degree in Modern Languages from Universidad de Caldas, which I earned in 2008, and a Master’s in TESOL, completed in 2015.
With over 15 years of teaching experience, I have had the opportunity to teach Spanish, English, Intervention, and ESL (English as a Second Language).
My husband and I relocated to North Carolina in 2012, and we are proud parents of two wonderful children—Mattias, who is currently in fifth grade, and Elena, who is in third grade.
Outside of the classroom, I enjoy spending time outdoors, reading, traveling, and making memories with my family.

Julie Carnes-Poyer, Intervention
My name is Julie Poyer. I am originally from Ellicottville, New York, a small town about an hour south of Buffalo. Go Bills! I graduated from Buffalo State University, came down to visit Raleigh and never left. :) I have taught in Wake County for many years and am thrilled to be part of the community at Jeffreys Grove!
My husband,Tim, and I have 2 daughters - Emma is a Junior at NC State and Calli is a Sophomore at Sanderson. We have 2 lab rescues, 2 cats and 3 chickens. When I’m not at school, I love to read, garden, ski, and go to the beach.
