Good evening, Trojans. This is principal Matthew Price with your weekly announcements.

Wednesday will be our 8-period remediation day for all students. Students should already be working to ensure that any missing work is caught up and ready to submit by Wednesday’s deadline.

Don’t forget our Annual Curriculum Showcase will be this Thursday from 5:30-7:00 pm in multiple rooms on the first floor here at GMHS. This event is a chance for families to come out and see the classes and programs that we offer here before we begin registration for classes next year. Come out and join us! This is a drop-in style event so come for any or all of it that you can.

The ACT will be Thursday, February 26.  All students identified as 11th grade in Infinite Campus will participate.  Please be at school on time, with your charged school-issued Chromebook and charger. Remember that this is a required test, and students who are scheduled to take it must complete it in order to be eligible to attend prom.

Interact Club is gathering school supplies and toiletries to help teachers and students. Items needed include pencils, pens, notebooks, erasers, dry erase markers, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, and any other school supplies or toiletries you can spare. Thank you for paying it forward and making GMHS a great place to go to school! Supplies can be dropped off in Student Services, the front office, room 3205 or 2112.

Notices went home last week to the families of our students who have already been showing excessive unexcused absences this quarter. It is imperative that students are in every class, every day in order to be successful. Remember to submit notes to attendance436@wcpss.net when your student is absent so that we can keep accurate records. Students who are excessively absent for unexcused reasons will be at-risk of losing their WakeID access.

The GMHS Class of 2027 is pleased to present "Glitz, Glam, & Gatsby” the Junior-Senior Prom on Saturday, April 18th, 2026, from 7:30 pm – 11:00 pm at Union Hall in Downtown Raleigh. Tickets are $75 through April 10th and may be purchased online or from Mrs. Norris in room 3005 beginning February 23rd. Tickets should ONLY be purchased by GMHS Juniors & Seniors who must also be in good standing with our school. There will be no tickets sold the week of prom. Please be sure to review the prom information letter distributed today during 2A to help you prepare for the big night. Complete and submit a guest application for guests who do not attend GMHS. The deadline for submitting guest forms is April 10th.

We are seeing an increase in students who are not following our carpool procedures. Students are only to be dropped off in front of the building at the end of the carpool line. Students who leave their vehicle while in the carpool line, or are dropped off in the student lot instead of the carpool line, are at risk of being assigned school consequences. Please help us keep everyone safe when arriving at school by following these procedures.

Finally, please use our Trojan Shout Out form to recognize any teacher that you feel has really gone above and beyond to help students succeed. They will be recognized in front of the staff in next week’s faculty meeting for their hard work and dedication to students.

These are all the announcements that I have for this week. I’ve been really impressed with the transition I’ve seen to the new semester, despite all of the bad weather we had. Great start, and GO TROJANS!

Good evening, Trojans. This is principal Matthew Price with your weekly announcements.

Juniors, did you know that taking the ACT is a required test that measures your college and career readiness?  Students with a weighted High School GPA greater than or equal to 2.50 and less than 2.80 are required to submit a standardized test score of a 17 or higher on the ACT or a 930 or higher on the SAT."  for admissions to most colleges.   A score of 17 is the minimum admissions score for the 16 UNC schools. All juniors will take the ACT on February 26th during the school day. See Ms. Sutton if you’d like some help prepping for it to get the highest score you can.

Our Curriculum Showcase will be held on February 26th from 5:00-7:30 pm in rooms on the first floor. This is a great chance for families to come out and see what courses and programs we have to offer before we begin registration for next year’s classes. All are invited to attend.

Registration will begin on March 2nd in students’ English classes. We encourage parents to discuss course choices with their students prior to March 2nd so that everyone is on the same page and prepared for a great year next year. We will be sending out more information through Talking Points.

National Counselor Appreciation week was a couple of weeks ago, but we were out for inclement weather. For this reason we will be celebrating our counselors this week. Please be sure to thank your counselor this week! They work hard to make GMHS a great place to learn.

    Purchase a yearbook @yearbookforever.com for $75 until March 30th.

Spring sports tryouts began today. I wish all of our athletes good luck as they try out to participate in Trojan athletics.

These are all the announcements that I have for this week. GO TROJANS!

Good evening, Trojans. This is principal Matthew Price with your weekly announcements.

We are excited for the beginning of a new semester. Although we had a jumbled first few days due to the weather, the transition to the new semester has gone smoothly, and I can sense everyone’s refocused efforts in the building.

Students will be meeting with administrators this week to discuss updates to disciplinary codes and attendance procedures. Once we have met with the students we will be releasing all updated procedures and expectations on the GMHS website to help everyone support getting every student in every class, every day. Additionally, when students are out sick, please remember to submit notes to this email address attendance436@wcpss.net in order for us to mark their attendance appropriately. Notes must be submitted within two days of returning to school in order to be counted as excused. You can also follow their attendance on Infinite Campus. If you need assistance with your parent access to Infinite Campus please contact Ms. Warren at nwarren@wcpss.net

Students must complete remote work from 1/27 and 1/28’s remote learning days by the end of the day tomorrow in order to be counted “present” for those days. Please check with your student to ensure that work is completed so that we can keep accurate attendance records.

Senior Cap and Gown photos will be on Wednesday, February 11th, in the Media Center.  There will be no session fee. Cap and Gowns will be provided; please do not bring your own. Cap and gown photos are not mandatory, but those who decide to take photos must sign up for an appointment time by Tuesday, February 10. You will find the link on the GMHS website. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Easton

The curriculum showcase will be February 19 from 5:30 - 7:00. We encourage families to come out with your students to get information about registration for electives and courses. Students will start registering for their classes the first week of March in their English classes.

I am in hopes that the weather is done and we can all return to school as usual. Let’s all have a great second semester! GO TROJANS!
