GMHS Monday Message: April 20, 2026

If your student is not returning to Garner HS and not attending a Wake County school for the 2026-2027 School year please email Ms. Warren nwarren@wcpss.net .
Juniors, if you have received the 2nd dose of the Meningococcal shot, please drop off your updated immunization record to Ms. Warren in Student Services. You are required to complete this by November of 2026. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Warren.
Additionally, If you have moved, you need to make sure your updated information is on file in our system. It is important that you are receiving all correspondences from us as we prepare for next school year.
Please continue to check your students' Infinite Campus Parent Portal Account for missed assignments and attendance. If you are having any difficulty accessing your Parent Portal, please contact Ms. Warren.
The Interact Club is collecting shoes for Soles for Souls, an international aid program that provides shoes to less fortunate adults and children. Please consider bringing a new or gently used pair of shoes to the box in the lobby or rooms 3110 or 3205 through May 12th. Any size, any style, everything helps.

Attention rising senior parents: On Tuesday, April 28, there will be an important information session for the Class of 2027 in the auditorium from 6–7 PM. We will discuss our new picture company, Cady, as well as additional senior requirements and reminders.

Tomorrow night, April 14th, the Drama Department's Improv Troupe will have a special benefit performance at 7:00pm in the Auditorium to raise money for Relay for Life's fight against cancer. Tickets are $,5 and all ticket sales benefit Relay for Life of Garner. Donations for Relay for Life will also be accepted through the Drama Department Student Team. Concessions will be available and the performance will be finished by 8:30pm. We hope you'll come out and join us for some laughs!

The Garner Mid-Day Rotary club is giving $15,000 in scholarships. These are needs based scholarships and applications are with Mr. Brown. There are five $1500 scholarships for students attending a two year school and three $2500 scholarships for students attending a four year school. The application deadline is this Thursday, April 16th end of school day. These scholarships will be presented at the senior awards ceremony in May.
The Garner FFA will be holding a Bingo Night April 15th 7:00PM-8:30PM (doors open at 6:30PM) at Lorraine's Coffee Shop. Bingo cards will be $20.00 for the night. See the link for more information.
The FFA will also hold their Spring Plant Sale, Friday, April 17th, starting at 2:30 and Saturday, April 18th. Please visit the greenhouse, near the bus parking lot and tennis courts, to see what the Horticulture team has to offer. Cash, Card (extra fee), or Check accepted. See the link below for more information.
The Junior Class of 27 is excited to present Garner's Junior/Senior Prom on Saturday, April 18th at Union Hall in Downtown Raleigh. Prom information may be found on the GMHS website. Please reach out to Mrs. Norris with questions. Parents please check your student’s Infinite Campus page to see if they have any outstanding fees. Prom tickets will not be able to be purchased if there are any fees due.

Seniors, an email went out today confirming your information to be printed on your diploma. This is a tight turnaround, so please check your WCPSS email and either respond with a “thumbs up” if all info is correct, or email cleroux@wcpss.net with any needed changes. The deadline for this is this Friday, April 10, so please go ahead and get on this.
Seniors, also please complete this form so that we can acknowledge your plans on our Senior Wall. This wall will highlight your hard work and the incredible colleges/universities that have recognized your dedication. Additionally, Decision Day is quickly approaching! This event is for graduating seniors and is a time to celebrate you and the post-secondary decisions you all have made! Registration is required, and in order to attend Decision Day you must have met with Mrs. Lilly at least once! So, if you are planning to attend Decision Day and have not scheduled a meeting with Mrs. Lilly, please do so ASAP! Schedule your meeting here !

The 2025-2026 Edward Sheppard Wasdell Jr. Teacher Excellence Award Nomination period officially begins Monday, April 6th, and runs through Monday, April 13th. For those new to Garner, The annual monetary award is given to recognize a teacher for excellent contributions to Garner Magnet High School. Mr. Wasdell was a former Teacher at Garner who passed away in March of 2001. His family and friends have established the award in his memory.
Information and nomination forms have been attached. Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to nominate teachers who meet the criteria outlined on the information sheet.
Please take a few minutes to nominate a deserving teacher and encourage students to make nominations. All nominations are due by the end of the day on Monday, April 13th.

Wake County Public School System is administering a District Wide Family Survey from Monday, April 6 through Friday, May 15. This survey provides families the opportunity to provide valuable information and a high-quality data source for planning and School Improvement.

First, a reminder that next week is our Spring Break. There will be no school for students. Students will return on Tuesday, April 7th to begin their 4th quarter push.
Wednesday will be the final 8-period day of quarter 3. This will be that last chance for students to submit any missing work prior to grades being locked for the end of the quarter.
Attention Senior families; Reminder that GMHS class of 2026 senior yard signs are available for purchase now through April 3rd! Let the whole neighborhood celebrate your class of 2026 seniors. Signs are pre-order only through April 3rd with an expected delivery time around the end of April, first of May.
The Junior Class of 2027 is excited to present Garner's Junior/Senior Prom—Glitz, Glam, & Gatsby 5 weeks from now on Saturday, April 18th at Union Hall in Downtown Raleigh. Tickets continue to be sold online and by cash/check for $75. Tickets will be sold through Friday, April 10th, which is also the deadline for students to submit guest forms. Prom information may be found on the GMHS website. Please reach out to Mrs. Norris with questions.
Seniors, Decision Day is quickly approaching! This event is for graduating seniors and is a time to celebrate you and the post-secondary decisions you all have made. Registration is required, and in order to attend Decision Day you must have met with Mrs. Lilly at least once. So, if you are planning to attend Decision Day and have not scheduled a meeting with Mrs. Lilly, please do so ASAP. Schedule your meeting here
Lastly, seniors should begin checking their WCPSS email at least daily as we move into this last quarter. We will be updating seniors on events, deadlines, and details about graduation via their school email address.

You are invited to the GMHS Chorus Department’s Spring Concert!
Thursday, March 26th at 7 pm. Admission is $5, and you can pre-order here to skip the line. Boosters will have bouquets from Forest Hills Florist available for $15; these can also be pre-ordered online, as a limited number will be available at the door. Concessions will also be sold. Boosters accept cash or card. Please note that all sales will close at 6:50 PM, so we encourage everyone to arrive early and use the pre-order links to ensure a smooth entry.
We can’t wait to share an evening of harmony with you and celebrate the arrival of Spring.
