Reminders
-
As we dive into fall, we’re embracing cooler mornings and colorful leaves! Please make sure your student has a weather-appropriate change of clothes and a jacket for our chilly morning walks.
What We’re Learning
ULS
- Students will explore the scientific method, study famous scientists, and investigate physical science through hands-on activities like testing magnets, making ice cream, creating oobleck, and exploring force and motion. The unit will be hands-on all month long with our own science fair projects.
Math
- Our Quarter 1 focus includes using and interpreting graphs, counting to 100, understanding place value for numbers 0–30, comparing numbers, rounding, and solving word problems.
Phonics
- We’ll wrap up our alphabet sounds review, finish CVC /o/ and /u/ families, and begin digraphs, blends, and CVCe words.
Other Learning
- In social-emotional learning, we’ll finish lessons on friend skills and move on to school skills using Matt and Molly. Our core word work will build communication and comprehension, while writing continues with sentence frames, capitals, punctuation, details, and penmanship. We’ll also build vocabulary with high-frequency words.
