Life Science: They Look Alike
In this unit, students will observe in what ways an offspring resembles its parents.

Students learn how baby animals and young plants resemble their parents.

Students identify shared features such as size, shape, color, and body characteristics.

Students compare and describe similarities and differences between parents and offspring.

Students use texts and informational books (e.g., Who Do We Look Like?, The Mixed Up Nest, “Baby Animals”) to support learning.

Students explore how mother animals identify their babies using features

Students extend learning to plants and understand that young plants share traits with parent plants.
- Students engage in writing activities about animal and plant features.

Creating and comparing parent and baby models (e.g., Banana Penguins, cactus)
