Retirement Planning
NC Retirement System
The Teachers’ and State Employees’ Retirement System (TSERS) is a defined benefit plan under Section 401(a) of the Internal Revenue Code, available to permanent, full-time and job share employees. Defined benefit plans use a formula to calculate monthly retirement benefits once eligibility requirements have been met. Contributions are payroll deducted on a pretax basis, at a required rate of 6% of gross wages per pay. Additional information can be found at MyNCRetirement | My NC Retirement. Supplemental Retirement Plans
NC 401(k) Plan
The NC 401(k) Plan is a retirement savings plan available exclusively to North Carolina public employees actively contributing to the Teachers’ and State Employees’ Retirement System (permanent, full-time and job share employees). Contributions are available on a pretax and/or ROTH basis and collected via payroll deduction. 403(b) and 457 Plans
WCPSS sponsors supplemental 403(b) and 457 plans, administered by Voya Financial. These plans are available to all WCPSS employees, with contributions collected via payroll deduction on a pretax and/or ROTH basis.
