At East Millbrook, students have the chance to explore their interests and develop new talents through a wide range of engaging electives. Whether it’s painting in a visual arts class, performing on stage, designing clothing, building creative solutions in a tech lab, or learning Spanish, our electives are designed to inspire. These classes allow students to dive into hands-on learning, express themselves, and connect their creativity to real-world experiences—all while supporting our school’s arts and design theme.
The Guild: An Immersive Artistic Experience
At East Millbrook, we’re proud to offer a one-of-a-kind opportunity for students who are passionate about the arts. “The Guild” is our signature, daily 80-minute elective—something no other middle school in Wake County provides. Designed for students who want to take their creativity to the next level, the Guild offers in-depth study in areas like Theatre, Dance, Band, Orchestra, Choral Music, Piano, and 2D or 3D Visual Art. It’s a supportive and inspiring space where young artists can build their skills, gain confidence, and be part of a close-knit creative community.
Design with Purpose: Real-World Learning Through Creative Electives
At East Millbrook, our Career and Technology electives like Engineering & Innovation, Apparel & Design, and Interior Design give students exciting opportunities to bring their ideas to life. In these hands-on classes, students use design thinking to tackle real-world challenges—whether it's building a model bridge, creating a custom clothing line, or designing a dream space. It’s all about creativity with purpose!
