Are you interested in taking dual enrollment courses through Career & College Promise (CCP) at Wake Tech Community College (WTCC)? 

Dual enrollment is taking college courses through approved pathways at WTCC and getting both high school and college credit.  CCP courses give high school students a head start on college general core courses, taking classes for certification at the community college, or experiencing community college while in high school. Here is a graphic for "Considerations for College Credits" - and if this is right for you. Green Level High School graduation requirements will be taken through our traditional high school courses. While some dual enrollment courses can satisfy equivalent requirements, your schedule at GLHS will include all graduation requirements and enrollment in Wake Tech does not dictate your schedule at GLHS. Articulation agreements for dual enrollment courses favor in-state public institution transfers, and the transfer/acceptance of dual enrollment courses can be limited for out-of-state or private insitutions - please inquire with your post-secondary plans for all options. Below is another graphic to help you see the process for taking CCP courses.  Please talk to your school counselor if you have questions - and visit Wake Tech's website for how to enroll - you must go to their website to get the required paperwork as you are applying to Wake Tech as a CCP student.

Students will need the following resources to complete the Eligibility Verification (EV) form:

1. Visit Wake Tech's website for how to enroll and watch the mandatory video to obtain the paperwork to complete
2. Request your official transcript here - You will input your email address, check the box (second to the bottom) that says, "College and Career Promise (Electronic Copy)" - it will send a secure link to the transcript that you can upload into the application for CCP.
3. If you are a 9th or 10th grader, you will need to prove your AIG eligibility for CT pathway.  You need to email Ms. Estrada hestrada@wcpss.net for your ISP (individualized Service Plan) to show you are academically gifted.  You must have eligibility in both areas; English and Math. There are four areas in the CTE pathway you do not need AIG eligibility for - please see the mandatory session from Wake Tech at the link above for more up-to-date and source information.
4. If you are 9th or 10th grader, you will need a letter of recommendation from the principal or designee.  Complete the EV form and attach Ms. Summers' email address (ksummers@wcpss.net). When she approves your form, we will send the recommendation directly to CCP per their instructions.  You do not need the recommendation to apply - we will send it once you are approved. If you are an 11th and 12th grader, you will complete the EV form and attach Ms. Roberts' email address (hroberts3@wcpss.net) and she will approve the application.
5. Please note this process takes between one and two weeks from your application, to getting your transcript, ISP, signatures and then hearing from Wake Tech on next steps. Please be patient and do not continue to complete additional applications. It will replace the first one and delay your application. Thank you for your understanding.

Once you complete the EV form and are approved, you need to give the following documents to Green Level Student Services:

• Dual Enrollment Form - this must be completed for every course you take through CCP
• Attach a screenshot of your Wake Tech WebAdvisor portal showing the course(s) you are registered for in each semester
• If you are requesting an Early Release/Late Arrival - You must complete the Schedule Reduction Form. This is only an option for Juniors in CCP and Seniors. The Dual Enrollment form and screenshot of your registration in your Wake Tech portal must be uploaded into the Schedule Reduction Form for consideration. You do not need a signature from your counselor to upload - only a student and parent signature.
• Underclassman are not eligible for schedule reductions for CCP courses.  Wake Tech and GLHS strongly ask you to consider no more than five courses total per semester as an underclassman.

Can I take Pre-Calculus at Wake Tech this summer?

This is strongly discouraged.  The Pre-Calculus curriculum at Wake Tech is not designed to feed into our AP Calculus AB/BC courses here at Green Level.  At Green Level, our Honors Pre-Calculus course is specifically designed to prepare you for success in AP Calculus. Students who pursue Pre-Calculus at Wake Tech must take a combination of 2 separate courses to meet the Pre-Calculus prerequisite for our AP Calculus course and even after those 2 courses, students are not ideally prepared for our AP Calculus class here at Green Level.

College Transfer Pathway - Students accepted in the CT Pathway; this link shows Wake Tech courses and their potential dual enrollment options on your GLHS transcript. Most carry an additional 1.0 credit weight on your GPA. All courses taken in this pathway will be added to your transcript - whatever you earn at Wake Tech, is what is added to your transcript at Green Level. No matter the outcome!

Career and Technical Education Pathway - ​Students accepted in the CTE Pathway; the link shows available Wake Tech courses that can also be included on your GLHS transcript.  These courses carry the added weighted point value referenced in the chart towards GPA (standard = 0 added, honors = 0.5 added, college = 1.0 point added).  Courses taken from this chart WILL be added to your high school transcript, regardless of the grade received. Eagle Advantage Textbook Savings Program for CCP Students (Reminder)

• Eagle Advantage is a textbook rental program designed to lower the cost of course materials for students and ensure they have access to all of their required textbooks and digital books by the first day of class.
• Students will be charged $27 per credit hour for textbooks, lab manuals, access codes and digital versions which will result in the receipt of a billing statement for registered courses.
  • NOTE: Students may already begin to see charges within their Self-Service portal as a “textbooks fee” within their Financial Account Summary section.  Students have the opportunity to “opt out” of the program which will waive the fee, but students will be responsible for purchasing textbooks independently (as in years past). The opt out window is December 7, 2023, through February 7, 2024.
