2024-25 School Year Transfer Requests

The 2024-25 official transfer application period is March 4-15, 2024. Families who submit a request during this period will be eligible for an appeal if the request is denied. Results will be available via email and/or text within 7 to 10 business days.

Understanding Your Results

As you complete and submit your transfer request, here is how you can interpret the status of your application.  

In the application portal, you will see one of the following by the application school: 

• Orange dot: submitted (not processed) 
• Green dot: assigned (approved)  
• Red dot: unassigned (not approved) 

Your written results will be sent to you via email or text within 7 to 10 business days. If you are eligible for an appeal, this information will be included in your response.

School Transfer Criteria 

Back to Base School Transfer 

This transfer describes students who attend a school other than their base school and want to attend their base school.

• Acceptance is guaranteed if the request is made within the Request for Transfer window, unless the base school has an enrollment cap. 
• Transportation is provided unless your address is in the walk zone.

Joining a sibling at a school

This transfer applies when an older child attends a school other than their base school, and you wish to have an entering grade level (K, 6, or 9) younger child attend the same school. Such requests are guaranteed to be approved only if made within the Request for Transfer window. 

WCPSS Employees

This transfer describes full-time employees requesting that their child attend the same school or campus where they will be working for that school year.  

• Most requests are granted. Some restrictions apply. 
• Transportation may be provided. Transportation information is provided in the address look-up.  

Traditional Calendar Transfer

This transfer describes students who attend a year-round or modified-calendar school and wish to attend a school with a traditional calendar.

• Acceptance is not guaranteed.
• Transportation may be provided. Transportation information is provided in the address look-up.  

Hardship Transfer

This transfer describes families that do not meet any of the above scenarios. Parents/legal custodians must provide a reason for their request. Requests that do not meet any of the criteria defined in Board Policy, including capacity restrictions, will be denied by the administration. The school board considers student assignment transfers to be appropriate only in rare or exceptional circumstances.
