Immunization Requirements For Rising Seniors

North Carolina law requires all rising 12th grade students to receive a meningococcal vaccine booster before starting 12th grade. This requirement applies to all students in the Class of 2027 and beyond.
What Families Need to Do
- Make sure your student receives the meningococcal booster vaccine
- Submit updated immunization records before the first day of school (Email: palbertson@wcpss.net or Fax: 919-670-4438)
- Immunization records must show proof that the booster has been completed
Important Vaccine Details
- This is a 2-dose vaccine.
- The first dose was required in 7th grade in Wake County schools.
- The booster dose is required before entering 12th grade.
Be Sure Your Vaccination Meets State Requirements
The following vaccines meet the 12th grade entry requirement:
- Meningococcal
- Meningo
- Mening
- Menactra
- Menveo
- MCV4
- MenACWY
- ACWY
The following vaccines do not fulfill the 12th grade requirement:
- Menomune
- Meningococcal B
- MenB
- Trumenba
- Bexsero
