Kortney Shearin
Ms. Shearin grew up in Cary, NC and graduated from Apex High School. She attended Wofford College in Spartanburg, SC where she discovered how many amazing things there are to learn about in our world. She graduated with a BA, majoring in both German and Sociology. Shortly thereafter, Ms. Shearin obtained an international TEFL certificate to teach English abroad. She has had the opportunity to live in Europe and South America, allowing her to follow her passion for experiencing different cultures and learn to speak German, French, and Spanish. When Ms. Shearin returned to the States, she got her NC Licensure through NCSU originally in English as a Second Language but has since added Elementary Education and Language Arts for 6th-9th grades. She also lived in New York City for about 6 years, but finally returned to Raleigh in 2011. She taught ESL to pre-K through adult students as well as 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades before joining the CCMMS Pack in 2021. She has had her National Board Certification since 2019. She has two kids (one at Athens Drive and one at UNC-G) and spends her free time knitting, reading, cooking, solving puzzles, traveling, and enjoying the outdoors at local festivals, events, and parks.
