This is Ms. Augusto's third year at Centennial Middle School serving as the Youth and Family Engagement Coach. Ms. Augusto works one-on-one with students, providing support to help them set and pursue individual goals related to academic achievement, well-being, and mental health. Students develop SMART Goals and create action plans to reach them. Ms. Augusto encourages students through positive reinforcement and motivation to help plan their future and make positive changes in their lives. She uses her training in Motivational Interviewing and Family Life Coaching to foster a safe and trusting relationship with her students. Many families have expressed their gratitude for the Student Engagement Team Program and all the positive changes they have seen in their children who are enrolled. Ms. Augusto treats every student as an individual, not as an “AT-RISK” student. She adopts a “We listen but we don’t judge” attitude. Ms. Augusto celebrates all progress, big or small, and looks forward to working with students and seeing them reach their goals.
