February All Call Announcements

  • Announcements for 2-29-16
We will have an Early Release this Friday, March 4th.  Students will be released at 1:15 that day.  Please make sure that your child has transportation home at that time as all of our teachers and staff will be participating in training and unable to provide supervision for your child after dismissal.

Parents, please remember that our bus loop is only for students who are receiving special transportation, busses and day care vans.  We have several vehicles who are parking in our bus loop and causing traffic and safety issues.  Please use our carpool lane and help us keep traffic moving and everyone safe.

Please remember that this week is Read Across America week.  This is a great opportunity for parents to come in and read to their child's class.  Please sign up to read in our Media Center or go to the link on Facebook and our PTA website.  This Wednesday, March 2nd is Dr. Seuss' Birthday and our "Dress up like a book character day".  And Thursday is our Community Reads Day in which we will have a number of special guests coming to read to our students.  Please also make sure that you are getting your pledges in this week for our Readathon fund raiser. Remember this is our big fund raiser this year (we will not be holding a Boosterthon).  This will be our final week for this fund raiser and I know many of you really want to see what Keech City looks like in the bus loop.

Our wonderful PTA would also like to remind you of the following:
*Mother son event payment is due tomorrow.  This will be our last day of accepting money for this event.
*And if you haven't already paid for the "Evening with the Eagles" please do so ASAP.  Payment will not be accepted at the door.
*5th grade parents, please email a photo of your child when they were in kindergarten to rosemaryros@nc.rr.com . The flyer is coming home in our Monday folder and is due next week.

That's all for now!  Goooooooooo Eagles!

    Announcements for 2-22-16
We want to begin by congratulating Ms. Lynda Smith (our technology teacher) for being chosen as a semi-finalist for Wake County Teacher of the Year!  We are so excited and just know that she is going to represent Wakefield well!  If you see her in the hallway, please congratulate her and tell her how proud we are of her.

Wakefield families, PTA would like to remind you of our READATHON fundraiser going on now.  We have currently raised $2500!  We have a goal of $10,000.  If we raise $10,000, I will camp out overnight in the bus circle.  It will be called Keech city for the night.  So work hard getting those pledges in! PTA would also like to remind you to get those Boxtops in this week.

Don't forget that next week begins our Read Across America Campaign.  We have a number of events planned that week with one of them being "Dress Up as Your Favorite Book Character" on Wednesday, March 2nd.  We are also inviting our parents to come in and read to their child's class during this week (please contact your child's teacher for details) and have several special guests visiting on Thursday, March 3rd to read to  our classes.

That's all for now!  Goooooo Eagles!

    Announcements for 2-16-16
We hope everyone enjoyed their extra day this weekend.  We enjoyed seeing all of the smiling faces returning today.

Please do not forget our PTA dine out tonight at Dickey's BBQ.  Come and get your dinner and help raise money for our school.

"Evening with the Eagles" is rapidly approaching.  Please make sure that you pay your registration before the end of February as you will not be able to pay at the door the night of the event.  We hope to see all of you there.  This is going to be a really fun night and a hopefully a cool new tradition.

Please be aware that the opening between our carpool and bus loop marked with yellow barrier columns is for emergency and district vehicles and not for entrance or exit into our carpool lane.

     Announcements for 2-8-16
Tours for prospective parents/families are currently being conducted every Thursday from 12- 1:30.  Please share with anybody considering Wakefield Elementary for their children that this would be a great time to come in and see what we are all about.

Parents please be aware that this Friday, Feb. 12th is an Early Release Day and students will be dismissed at 1:15.  Please make sure that your child has a way home at 1:15 as teachers will be in professional development for the remainder of that day and unable to provide supervision for any child remaining after dismissal.

Please also note that next Monday, February 15th will be a regular school day.  It was originally a teacher workday but due to weather make -ups will now be a regular school day.

This Thursday, Feb. 11th from 6:30-7:30 we will be conducting our annual "Jump Around Event"  for the American Heart Society.  We hope to see you there.

And speaking of weather, please make sure that when there is a weather event that you continue to monitor our district's website, twitter, and your local media stations for any information pertaining to school delays or closures.  You can also go on -line and register for email alerts and phone calls on the district website.  Our school will not be conducting an all-call with this information as it interferes with the district's all-call system.

    Announcements for 2-1-16
Carpool parents, we are once again asking that you follow our carpool procedures.  We have put these in place for the safety and security of your children.  That means, you may NOT pull through the bus loop to pick up or drop off your child, you may NOT pull into the parking lot to pick up or drop off your child, you may NOT leave your child here after the dismissal time of 3:45 for someone else to care for, and you may NOT leave your child in the front of our school unsupervised before 8:45 am.  If you continue to disregard our procedures keeping your children safe, you may be contacted by myself and Wake County Security.  Thank you for your understanding and support as we work to keep your children safe.

Parents our Father Daughter Dance is rapidly approaching!  It is this Saturday, February 6th.  Final payment is due this Wednesday for this event.
