September 2016 Announcements

  • Good afternoon Wonderful Wakefield Eagle Families!  This is your principal, Ms. Keech with the weekly announcements.

    Announcements for 9-26-16
Wakefield families, please do not forget that this Friday, Sept. 30th is an Early Release Day.  Students will be dismissed at 1:15 pm.  Please make sure that your child has a way home at 1:15 as we will not be able to provide supervision after dismissal due to all staff involvement in professional training.

Parents, this week you will be receiving your child's very first interim report pertaining to their academic progress.  All interims should go home by this Friday, Sept. 30th.  Please contact your child's teacher or counselor, if you have any questions, concerns or need to schedule a conference.

Parents, please make sure that when you are volunteering or visiting our school that you are signing in at our front office.  It is very important that all parents do this in order for us to maintain a safe and secure environment.  Please  note that you must also schedule your times to visit or volunteer with your child's teacher or staff member prior to your visit.  Please also make sure that the location that you are entering into our Ident-a-kid system is the actual location that you will be going to. Although we encourage our parents to be in our building, we must minimize disruptions and maintain safety and security. Thanks for helping us keep all of our students safe.

Our PTA would also like to remind you of the following:
All GoPlaySave money orders or books must be turned in by tomorrow, Tuesday, Sept. 27th to your child's teacher.
We will also be having our first Dine-Out event and fundraiser this Wednesday night , Sept 28th at PDQ.  We hope to see you all there!

That's all for now!  Gooooooooo Eagles!

    Announcements for 9-19-16
Parents of students who are auditioning at the high school for Oliver! - please remember that this is a high school production.  If you have any questions or need more information about the production or auditions, please contact Paul Orsett - the Wakefield Theatre teacher and director or go on the Wakefield High School website.

Parents, please make sure that you are not dropping off your child at school prior to 8:45 am each morning.  We do not have supervision for your child at that time and you could be severely compromising their safety and welfare.  Please make arrangements for your child to have care before 8:45 am in the morning with either our Before School Care program or with a private organization/family member. Please also remember that your child must be picked up by 4:00 pm each day.  We do not have supervision after 4:00 pm. If you are looking for afterschool care, please contact the YMCA afterschool program.

Our PTA would also like to remind you of the following:
This week is the end of our PTA membership drive. Please make sure you have submitted your 10$ payment by Friday.
All GoPlayBook orders (or books) need to be turned in by next Tuesday, Sept. 27th
Next Wednesday, Sept. 28th is our first spirit night of the year at PDQ.  It will be from 5-8. The winning class for participation at each grade will get a cookies and lemonade party.

Please make sure that you are checking your child's backpack each night and their Monday communication folder for any important information about upcoming events and activities.

That's all for now!  Goooooooo Eagles!

    Announcements for 9-12-16
Wakefield Families don't forget that we will be hosting our "Dinner on the Lawn" and "Open House" this Thursday, Sept. 15th.  Dinner will be from 5-6:00, a brief PTA meeting from 6:00-6:30 and then you will be dismissed to our classroom sessions at 6:30.  The first session will be from 6:30-6:55 and the second session will be from 7:00-7:25. We hope that you will be able to attend, mingle with friends and learn a little more about your child's classroom this year.

Please also don't forget to review your child's Monday folder tonight as it is packed full of information and details about upcoming activities and events and fundraising opportunities for our school.

Parents, I again urge you to review all carpool and transportation procedures with your child.  This information was provided to you before school started in our Summer Packet and has been posted on our website.  It is important that you and your child follow the procedures for efficiency and most importantly, for their safety and yours. Please let us know if you need a copy of any of these procedures.

That's all for now! Gooooooooo Eagles!

    Announcements for 9-6-16
Parents, we will be having our first Early Release Day this Friday , Sept. 9th.  Students will be released at 1:15.  Please make sure that your child has a way home at that time as there will be no supervision for them after dismissal due to our staff participating in professional development.

Please remember to check your child's backpack for our Monday folder which will include important information.  Please also continue to check our Google calendar for upcoming events and activities such as our "Dinner on The Lawn" and "Open House" on the 15th.

We want to thank everyone ahead of time for your patience in carpool this week as this will be the first week that all of our kindergartners will be in school.  Please also review with your child their carpool number, how to buckle and unbuckle their safety belts and carpool procedures (located in your summer mailer and on our website through video).  Carpool parents please also be aware that there is an emergency transition space in between carpool and our bus loop indicated by the yellow columns.  Please do not block this path as it is necessary to keep it open for emergency and district personnel.

Parents we also wish to remind you that although it is the first week for kindergartners and several of you are walking your children in, that it is important for you to allow them to begin to become independent.  It can sometimes present a separation problem if a parent continues to walk their child in everyday, creating a disruption and in some cases a safety issue.  We encourage you to please allow your child to come in on their own and use our Parent Line outside as an excuse to your child if needed.  Please be aware that we have many adults throughout the building stationed to help our little people get to their classroom each morning safely.

That's all for now!  Goooooooo Eagles!
