Ms. Shaw serves as the Instructional Assistant to Ms. Carpenter’s kindergarten class. Most recently, Ms. Shaw taught 4th grade at Cardinal Charter Academy in Cary and worked as an Instructional Assistant at Central Elementary in Hillsborough, where she taught grades 3-5. Ms. Shaw discovered her love of teaching after a successful career in non-profits. She holds an M.A. in English and Creative Writing, is an award-winning writer, enjoys reading, exercise, and spending time at the beach.

I graduated from NC State in 2024 with a dual Bachelor's degree in Elementary and Special Education along with a STEM concentration. I completed my student teaching at York and was lucky enough to be hired into the kindergarten team! I am from Charlotte, NC and moved to Raleigh when I started school at NC State.  In my free time, I like to read, be outside, watch movies and spend time with my family and friends. I'm so excited for another year at York!

I have an MEd. in early childhood education. I have a decade of experience working with young children from a hands-on interdisciplinary approach and creating and designing interest driven lessons for all types of learners. I am truly at home working with young children. I have worked with all types of students, specializing in helping students with behavioral and academic differences. With my background in ECS, I continue to learn and gain skills with each child I work with. Outside the school setting, I am a mother of three - Milly, Piper, and Beau. Being a mother and an educator brings fulfillment and a good night’s rest!

I graduated from NC State in 2016 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education with a STEM concentration.  I completed my student teaching right here at York, and was lucky enough to be hired as a kindergarten teacher after I graduated!  I have taught kindergarten at York ever since!

In my free time, I love shopping for new decorative items for my home, listening to country music, going to sporting events, and spending time with my family when they are in town.

I am looking forward to another great year at York as a Kindergarten IA. I have three children - two of which will be attending York this year and one is starting high school. I love spending time with my family and two cats, reading, and playing games of all kinds.  

I am so excited for another great year at York! I graduated from NC State, where I majored in Elementary Education with a minor in Spanish. I grew up in Cary, and I have lived around the Raleigh area for my whole life. In my free time, I love running, finding new places to eat, shopping at Target, and spending time with family and friends. I can’t wait for all that this year has in store!

Hi! I am Rachel Abramson and this is my 10th year working in education! This is my third year as an Instructional Assistant. I am excited to be a York Bulldog again! I am a proud alumnus of York Elementary School myself. I grew up in Raleigh and graduated from UNC Greensboro with a degree in Human Development and Family Studies with a license to teach birth through Kindergarten. In my free time, I enjoy listening to music, exercising, and riding roller coasters at amusement parks. I am so happy to return to York Elementary School to share my early school memories with new students.
