I am so excited to continue my educational career with the bulldog family for the 2024-2025 school year! I am in native of New York City and moved to Raleigh in the summer of 2014. I have taught with the Wake County School System for the past 10 years as a resource room special education teacher. I absolutely love working with this population of students and helping them succeed to be the best version of themselves! My greatest joy is being a mom to my wonderful boys, Hartwell (6) and Hudson(4). Hartwell will also be a bulldog in first grade this year! In our spare time, we love going for walks with our dog (Bella), swimming, and visiting family up north. I look forward to collaborating with families and supporting students’ educational and social growth this school year.

I am so excited to begin my career as a CCR teacher at York Elementary for the 2024-2025 school year! I am originally from Eden, NC and I moved to Raleigh to attend NC State in 2020. I graduated from NC State in May 2024 with a degree in Elementary Education and a dual license in Special Education. I completed my student teaching here at York during the 2023-2024 school year and I am thrilled to join the bulldog family! I truly feel that I have a burgeoning passion for CCR and I am very excited to begin this journey. In my free time, I enjoy watching NC State football, going to Disney World and spending time with family and friends. I can’t wait for a great first year! Go Bulldogs!

Hello Bulldogs! I am a North Carolina native, born and raised in Gray’s Creek, a small town south of Fayetteville. I moved to Raleigh for college and never left! I graduated from NC State with a BS degree in Animal Science. I managed a research lab for 15 years, then decided to change careers after becoming a mom. I got experience as a preschool teacher and a CCR Instructional Assistant, before jumping into the CCR teaching position last year. When I'm not at work, I enjoy spending time with my family, crafting, and watching NCSU sports = Go Pack!
I believe we are all a team to help not only the students grow, but also help our families glean knowledge from what we do with their children. Education is better served in partnership. I am looking forward to joining the Bulldog family!

This is my 2nd year as a York Bulldog! I am currently an Instructional Assistant with the amazing Special Programs Team! I am still attending college studying Special Education to eventually become a teacher myself. I enjoy getting to know the students that I am working with. It makes my day when students arrive in the morning and have a smile on their faces. I know they are excited to be here and are ready to learn something new every day. I am excited and blessed to be part of this amazing team. Go Bulldogs!

Greetings Wonderful York Families!
My name is Susan Kohl Smith…but everyone calls me “Ms. Sue”. I taught at York with Arts in Action long ago! My first love was dance! My 1st grade teacher Miss Jenkins had a record player and she played Aretha Franklin/Tina Turner! I had never heard music like that before and was hooked! When my Dad left the military, we moved to South Jersey, close to Philly. Our small town was called Pitman. After Pitman, I moved to Connecticut and opened Miss Sue's Hot Tots Performing Arts Preschool in Madison, Connecticut. We moved to Raleigh in 1999 and have been here ever since. I have 3 grown children, 2 grandsons and #3 coming at the end of August!
