Ms. Frances Walker is a dedicated educator with a diverse background.  She graduated with honors from Jackson State University with a B.S. in Elementary Education and went on to obtain her Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from Wayne State University. Her 20 plus years of teaching experience ranges from elementary (3rd-5th), middle school (6th-8th ELA) as well as building and district level administration. She is excited to start the next chapter of her career at York Elementary School.

As a child growing up in a family of educators, she knew at a young age that teaching was her passion. She values the importance of literacy and learning in innovative ways! Frances loves to incorporate technology into her lessons and is constantly seeking best practices to effectively engage every student. She is known for her patience and her ability to inspire students to achieve their academic and personal goals. When she is not imparting knowledge, she spends time cultivating her other gifts as a professional musician (she plays the saxophone!) and massage therapist. She recently moved here from the Great Lakes state of Michigan and is excited about her new life in North Carolina.
