ACT Testing Exception Process

Students who have previously taken the SAT or ACT prior to January 30, 2026, and have scores that meet the college readiness benchmark standards outlined below, are not required to participate in the statewide administration of The ACT. However, schools
must provide the appropriate information and the ACT Testing Exception Request Form to students, and it is the student’s responsibility to complete the form and return the necessary information to the school.See this document for more information on how to receive an ACT testing exception.

SAT SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS AT UNC COLLEGES
For students entering the Fall 2026 semester and beyond:1. High School GPA: A minimum weighted GPA of 2.5.2. Standardized Test Scores: Students with a weighted High School GPA greater than or equal to 2.50 and less than 2.80 are required to submit a standardized test score of a 17 or higher on the ACT or a 930 or higher on the SAT.
