Marching Band
The Marching Bulldog Band performs at all home varsity football games, various Christmas parades, college homecoming parades, and three to four marching competitions each year. Students learn marching skills as well as prepare a traditional pre-game, a competitive modern marching show, and parade marching. The marching band performs a wide variety of musical genres including classical, pop, jazz, and rock. The marching band is open to all students in grades nine through twelve. Rehearsals begin in the summer starting with a percussion camp three weeks prior to the first day of school and a band camp starting two weeks prior to the first day of school. There are also required rehearsals throughout the marching season on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

Wind Ensemble
At the end of the marching season (in late October/early November), the Marching Bulldog Band splits into two upper-level concert bands in order to accommodate all students of varying abilities and interest levels. The Wind Ensemble prepares advanced literature and performs at several concerts throughout the year, including the NC Music Performance Assessment (MPA).
NOTE: When considering enrollment numbers for the 2022-2023 school year, Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band may be combined into one ensemble. -

It is the goal that all members of the Concert Band will continue in the marching band the following year.
-
Jazz Band
Jazz Band rehearses after school during the spring semester. Students in the jazz band will prepare a variety of jazz literature including combo charts, modern arrangements, and jazz standards. Jazz Band performs frequently throughout the spring and performs at several jazz festivals throughout the year. Pep Band
The Bulldog Pep Band performs at girls and boys varsity basketball home games. This is a volunteer ensemble where ALL band members are welcome to come play and earn lettering points towards their varsity letter.
-
Pit Orchestra
Band students have the opportunity to participate in the Pit Orchestra, which performs the instrumental music for the musicals put on by our Theatre Program. Each year’s musical requires different instrumentation, but normally, every instrument family may participate in some capacity. Students are selected by grade level, musicianship and music ability, schedule availability, teachability, and professionalism, in order to participate in the Pit Orchestra.
-
Solos/Small Ensembles
On top of all of the other available musical options listed previously, students have the opportunity to participate in the NC Solo and Small Ensemble Festivals each year. This is a great way to prepare solo literature or work on musical goals with your friends and classmates.
