Counseling and Student Services

  • Welcome to the Comprehensive School Counseling Program at Southeast Raleigh Magnet High School.

Our primary focus is to support students' social, emotional, and academic success on an individual basis through strategic planning and monitoring of progress. We recognize that a student's overall well-being is fundamental to academic achievement of Social, Emotional, Learning (SEL) therefore a student and counselor collaboration is imperative in order to foster this on-going academic, social, and emotional endeavor. Counselors are here to support the whole student while guiding and connecting them with in-school and outside-of-school resources/opportunities.

Our department is currently implementing the American School Counselor Association's National Model. It is a comprehensive, school-wide counseling program which addresses all students in the areas of Career Development, Academic Achievement and Social-Emotional Learning.

Our Vision

  • All students at Southeast Raleigh Magnet High School successfully engage in college and career preparation to become lifelong learners who are globally-minded, critical thinkers who graduate ready to compete and contribute to their communities and the evolving workforce of the 21st century.

Our Mission

  • The mission of the Southeast Raleigh Magnet High School counseling program is to increase student achievement through equitable delivery services, which gives all of our students access to counselors in order to successfully address their individual and diverse academic, career and social/emotional needs and goals. We work in partnership with other stakeholders (staff, parents and community members) to advocate for equity, access and success so that all students are collaborative, creative, effective communicators who graduate fully prepared for life in the 21st century.
