We are excited to share a new opportunity for our community to directly support students at Felton Grove High School through the Purposity website and mobile app.
Purposity is a platform designed to connect real, specific student needs with individuals and organizations who want to help. Through the Purposity app or website, schools can post individual needs for students, such as clothing, supplies, or other essential items. Community members can then choose a need they would like to support, and Purposity facilitates the process of fulfilling that need quickly and securely.
Our goal in using Purposity is to strengthen the partnership between our school and community while ensuring that students receive the support they need to succeed both inside and outside of the classroom.
Beginning Monday, March 16, Felton Grove High School will officially launch our Purposity page. Here is our Felton Grove High School Purposity Link. We will begin sharing student needs that members of our community can choose to support. Each need posted is carefully reviewed and shared to ensure privacy and dignity for our students while allowing others to make a meaningful impact.
We encourage parents, community members, and local partners to visit our page, explore the posted needs, and consider supporting a student if you are able. Even simply sharing the page with others helps expand our network of support.
Thank you for your continued commitment to the success and well-being of our Felton Grove students.
NCSU Summer Programs The Online Research Academy connects high school students directly with faculty from NC State and other NC universities to conduct introductory college-level research. The 36 Hours to Save the World program is an intense interdisciplinary experience in which students create solutions for a unique global challenge in a one-weekend "hackathon" style competition, guided by faculty mentors. The Admissions Academy is intended for rising seniors, and gives step-by-step instruction in writing their personal statement and navigating the Common App. Taught by a college counselor with over 20 years' experience, Admissions Academy also includes one-on-one essay coaching and optional supplemental essay classes. The landing page for all programs is here: Pre-College Programs There, you can also register for an upcoming Q&A webinar if you would like more information.
Resource Conservation Workshop (RCW) is a weeklong camp for rising 10th-12th grade students across North Carolina. The camp provides students with opportunities to speak with professionals from a variety of fields in the natural sciences, go on field trips, engage in hands-on activities and projects, and learn about the college experience and career paths. The camp dates this year are Sunday, June 14th through Friday, June 19th, and students stay in dorms at NC State’s campus in Raleigh. Students must apply through their county’s Soil and Water Conservation District and be selected to attend. Wake Soil & Water pays the full tuition ($650) for at least 3 students, and also may select a few students to attend and pay their own way if the family is able. Visit our website to download the application.
