Mrs. Laura Berglund (English as a Second Language Teacher)

lberglund@wcpss.net

Hello! My name is Laura Berglund and I am the English as a Second Language teacher. I have lived in the Triangle for the majority of my life. I graduated from UNC Chapel Hill with a degree in Elementary Education and then received my Masters in Teaching in ESL from NC State. I am forever a Tar Heel.

I have been teaching at North Ridge since 2019 and taught in Durham before that. I love working with kids and families from around the world. We are fortunate to have kids from all over the world at our school and it is really special to learn about their countries and cultures from them.

I am married and have two little boys who are not at North Ridge yet. We love being outside whether that is hiking, swimming, or gardening. I also enjoy baking, cooking, and sewing. I love teaching and feel very blessed to be at North Ridge.

Mrs. Sara Carpenter (Intervention Teacher)

scarpenter3@wcpss.net

Hi, I am Sara Carpenter. I have lived in Raleigh since I was in the 4th grade...here at North Ridge. I am a product of WCPSS and have been an educator here for 20 years. After graduating from Meredith College, I started as a classroom teacher and then pursued my Masters of Counseling, where I started to learn more about student behavior and social emotional learning. I truly enjoy building relationships and love connecting with people. I am married with 3 kids, and they keep me so busy, but if I have an extra moment, then I am crafting, making T-shirts, in the woodshop, or tailgating at an NCSU football game. Excited to serve the staff and students at North Ridge!

Mrs. Meghan Sollars (AIG Teacher)

msollars@wcpss.net

Hi Unicorns!  My name is Meghan Sollars. I am excited to be back at North Ridge Elementary teaching the Academically and Intellectually Gifted (AIG) and Science,Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (S.T.E.A.M) classes.  I started my career teaching in Wake County 23 years ago.  I have enjoyed many roles including being a 2nd and 4th grade teacher, AIG teacher, STEAM specialist, and magnet coordinator.

I grew up in Northern California and Connecticut.  I graduated from Roanoke College in Virginia, received my Master’s in Elementary Education at Meredith College in Raleigh, and attended UNC Pembroke to attain my AIG certification.

My husband, Ken, and our two children Shane and Mckenna enjoy exploring National Parks throughout our beautiful country.  Our family spends a lot of time on the soccer field and volleyball court, as well as growing in our musical gifts and talents!

Please learn more about the AIG program at North Ridge Elementary by visiting the NRE AIG Website.  I look forward to an amazing year of teaching and learning!
