Campbell University Engineering 2-Day Summer Camp
Participants will experience Campbell’s project‑based engineering curriculum through design projects, communication and teamwork skill-building, professional development sessions, and industry engagement. Student teams will complete a community-focused design challenge and present their work at a final‑day Design Expo open to families, alumni and industry mentors.
Top teams (1st–3rd place) will earn one‑time scholarships applicable to their freshman year at Campbell University if they enroll and declare engineering.

Wake Tech and the Wake County Public School System have partnered to provide an opportunity for rising high school seniors to attend the six-week Careers Electric™ High School Summer Academy.
Careers Electric™ is a national workforce initiative designed to expand access to high-quality electrical training and create clear pathways into well-paying, in-demand careers. The summer academy is an integral component of this effort, and students interested in learning about career opportunities in the rapidly evolving field of residential, commercial and industrial electrical systems installation and maintenance are invited to apply.
Selected applicants get a jump-start on their career aspirations through classroom instruction led by Wake Tech faculty and on-the-job training through internships, all while earning a $2,000 stipend, accumulating six hours of college credit by completing Residential Wiring and National Electrical Code courses and serving in a registered pre-apprenticeship.
The academy runs from June 15 through July 27. Classes are held 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Wednesday at Wake Tech's Southern Wake Campus. On Thursdays and Fridays, students report to an assigned local electrical employer for on-the-job training and work-based learning. Students are expected to attend at least 90% of scheduled sessions.
Students will be provided with all necessary instructional materials, including textbooks, safety equipment and hand tools. Students must provide their own transportation to Wake Tech and to their assigned employer, but transportation assistance may be available.
Eligibility requirements
- Wake County high school senior or junior (expected to graduate in May/June 2026 or May/June 2027)
- Legally able to work in the U.S.
- Applied for the Career & College Promise dual-enrollment program at Wake Tech (Electrical Systems Technology Pathway - C35130CH)
Interested students are encouraged to speak with their career development coordinator and Career and Technical Education faculty for additional information. They also can email Wake Tech Electrification Training Project Director Todd Campbell at tbcampbell@waketech.edu.

The application deadline is March 29. The selection process includes a formal interview. Students chosen for the academy will be notified in early May.
Careers Electric™ was launched in North Carolina through a $9.25 million investment from the Siemens Foundation in partnership with state leaders, education partners and national industry organizations. The High School Summer Academy is directly supported by the North Carolina Business Committee for Education.

Climate Resilience Camp
Rising Grades 9–12 (in 2026–2027 school year)
Climate Resilience Camp is a week-long summer STEM enrichment program for high school students. The week is focused on exploring impacts of natural disasters and extreme weather and investigating strategies for increasing resilience in their communities.
Students will take part in hands-on activities on extreme heat, flooding, and air quality; explore resilience and possible solutions; and meet professionals working in climate-related fields. All participants are encouraged to lead an optional service project in their community during the school year and will receive project suggestions and support for implementation.

Criminal Justice Fellows Program
SENIORS: Are you interested in pursuing Criminal Justice at a community college? If so, click here to learn more about the CJ Fellows Program. This can pay for your tuition, fees, textbooks, and college supplies.
The application deadline is April 30, 2026. There are only 100 Fellowships to be awarded each year, so interested students should apply ASAP!

Duke STAR Summer Program
The five-week in-person program will give participants interested in science and medicine real hands-on experience in research methodology and writing. Participants are placed in teams and matched with Duke faculty mentors to work on an original, hypothesis-driven project, originating as a one-page summary and culminating in a complete research paper. A goal of the program is to have every participant qualify for co-authorship on a peer-reviewed manuscript related to their team’s project.
This application opens in November for the upcoming summer.

EXPLORE@UNC
Explore@UNC is Carolina’s one-week, on-campus pre-college program that lets high school students test-drive college life and academic paths. The program is built to encourage movement both toward and away from an initial interest so students can make more confident choices about college majors and careers. Students choose from majors like biology, anthropology, music, political science, sports administration, archaeology, public policy, classics, and more— diving into each as a focused two-day track led by Carolina faculty and near-peer mentors. The result is a genuine taste of college life and learning at a top public research university.

HOBY North Carolina East
The North Carolina HOBY Leadership Seminar is a 3-day leadership program for approximately 140 rising high school juniors held each June in Raleigh. HOBY Ambassadors have an opportunity to develop their critical thinking skills, learn about their personal leadership styles, and form an appreciation for community service. They attend panel sessions featuring prominent speakers from our government, businesses, media, and educational communities. They participate in leadership development workshops and activities. HOBY Ambassadors also participate in a community service project and learn how they can lead in service in their own communities. As a result of their experiences, the high school Ambassadors return to their schools and communities eager to make a difference and share what they have learned.
HSHS is able to nominate 1–2 rising Juniors per school year. Information is sent to the Sophomore class in early November on how to apply and winners are notified in early December.

Lady Cardinal Mentorship Program
The application period for the annual Lady Cardinal Mentorship Program is now open. North Carolina high school girls, grades 9-12, can apply for the four-week paid summer STEM enrichment opportunity with North Carolina state government. Established in 2019 by the NC Department of Administration’s Division for Women and Youth, the Lady Cardinal Mentorship Program provides college-bound girls an opportunity to explore STEM-based careers within state government to help recruit more young women into these fields.

NC State College of Design Camp
Design Camp is a pre-college summer program for middle school and high school students organized by the NC State Design Lab for K12 Education and Outreach. Held each summer, Design Camp informs students about the study of design and raises awareness of the impact of design on all aspects of our everyday lives. The design thinking skills and creative experience gained can empower students on their path toward becoming innovative problem solvers and prepare them to tackle the challenges of the future.

NC State College of Engineering Camp
Each summer, the College of Engineering at NC State University offers rising 9th and 10th grade high school students the opportunity to experience engineering at NC State. We offer multidisciplinary week-long day camps that provides an experience into how engineers solve problems. Teams of campers experience introductory activities then transition to work on a collaborative team-oriented challenge project, learn about how computer scientists impact the world and how entrepreneurs create solutions for our changing lives.

NC State Online Research Summer Program
As a quick overview, our Online Research Academy connects high school students directly with faculty from NC State and other NC universities to conduct introductory college-level research. Our 36 Hours to Save the World program is an intense interdisciplinary experience in which students create solutions for a unique global challenge in a one-weekend "hackathon" style competition, guided by faculty mentors. VetCAMP is a 5 day summer camp hosted by the Veterinary Professions Advising Center (VetPAC) at North Carolina State University. Since 2011, this camp has educated students about careers in veterinary medicine and the various opportunities within the field. Camp activities include a tour of the College of Veterinary Medicine, basics of a small animal clinic, hands-on experience with horses, sheep and pigs at the NC State Animal Education Units, suture and dissection labs, learning about NC State majors and more!

North Carolina Governor's School
The North Carolina Governor's School is a four-week summer residential program for gifted and talented high school students, integrating academic disciplines, the arts, and unique courses on each of two campuses. Learning focuses on the exploration of the most recent ideas and concepts in each discipline, and it does not involve credit, tests, or grades. Students are selected to attend through a competitive process after being nominated by their public school unit or non-public school.
This program is for Juniors. Students must work with Ms. McCallum (school counselor) during the application process. Applications open in September and are submitted to the Governor's School by HSHS during Nov-Dec. Exact deadlines are provided during the application pool.

Tar Heel Boy's State
Boys State is a leadership program of action. Participants learn the rights, privileges, and responsibilities of franchised citizens. The training is objective and centers on the structure of city, county, and state governments. Operated by students elected to various offices, Boys State activities include legislative sessions, court proceedings, law-enforcement presentations, assemblies, bands, distinguished guest speakers, and recreational programs.
Boys State delegates benefit from learning how to:
• build coalitions,
• navigate disagreements,
• think independently,
• find inner confidence and support others
American Legion posts select rising high school seniors to attend the program. In most cases, individual expenses are paid by a sponsoring post, a local business, or another community-based organization.

Tar Heel Girls State
American Legion Auxiliary Tar Heel Girls State originated in 1940 to provide an opportunity to study and practice citizenship. For over 85 years, this program has served several thousand young leaders by deepening their sense of responsibilities as citizens and serving as a practical source of instruction in the structure and operation of state and local governments.
Tar Heel Girls State is the longest continuously running Girls State program in the country.
Rising seniors from across the state spend a week creating city government, political parties, and a state government. They elect officials, write and debate bills, create working governments and attend various workshops to prepare them for their senior year and college.

UNC Project Uplift
Project Uplift is a Program that enables rising high school seniors to experience college life on Carolina’s campus. Project Uplift seeks to engage participants in an immersive experience that connects them with UNC-Chapel Hill. Participants learn about the admissions and financial aid process, build meaningful connections with students from across the country, and interact with Carolina students, faculty, and staff. Parents/Guardians have the option to attend a Parent panel where they learn about academic and campus resources available to their student.

West Point Summer Leaders
Led by current West Point cadets, Summer Leaders Experience (SLE) is a five-day immersion into a West Point cadet's academic, military, and social life. SLE is for rising high school seniors who are interested in learning more about West Point and the qualities required to succeed as a cadet.
SLE takes place the summer between your junior and senior year. High school juniors should apply between 15 February and 15 April of their junior year. To apply, complete the initial portion of the West Point application (Step 3 in our Steps to Admission) and then the SLE checklist.
At SLE, you will explore West Point from all angles, including our high-tech academic facilities, team-building athletic activities, and realistic military training. You'll also gain firsthand insight into the character, determination, commitment to excellence, and leadership skills expected of West Point cadets.

Every year, YRNC hosts an incredible summer camp where youth get to receive instruction on an instrument of their choice, write original music, and participate in a range of workshops with their peers, all while generating power through creative collaboration.
