Horatio Alger Career & Technical Education (CTE) scholarship- Application Deadline June 15, 2026
Posted by Sharon Manning on 3/17/2026 10:30:00 AMThe Horatio Alger Association’s Career & Technical Scholarship is designed for individuals who have faced and overcome significant adversity and are working toward a career or technical education certificate or degree. This need-based award recognizes those who demonstrate integrity, perseverance, and a strong commitment to building a successful future through career-focused training.
Eligible individuals with financial need who are enrolled, or plan to enroll, in a career or technical program at a not-for-profit institution should consider applying. Each year, the Association awards scholarships of up to $2,500 to support tuition, tools, supplies, and other program-related expenses.
Eligibility Requirements:
Have completed high school (or equivalency) by July 1
Plan to attend a not-for-profit community college or trade/vocational school
Enroll in an associate’s degree, certificate, or diploma program by September that will lead to employment
May not be enrolled in pre-requisite courses
Demonstrate financial need (applicants must show household income of $100,000 or less)
Be under the age of 35

Careers Electric™ High School Summer Academy$$- For Current Juniors & Seniors

Perks:
- Earn a $2,000 stipend
- 6 hours of college credits
- Registered pre-apprenticeship.
- Schedule: Mon-Wed from 8am-5pm at Wake Technical Community College-Southern Wake Campus; Thu-Fri on-the -job training at an assigned local electrical employer
- Provided instructional materials, including textbooks, safety equipment and hand tools
Eligibility Requirements
- Wake County high school senior or junior (expected to graduate in May/June 2026 or May/June 2027)
- Legally able to work in the U.S.
- Apply for the Career & College Promise dual-enrollment program Summer Term at Wake Tech (Electrical Systems Technology Pathway - C35130CH)

This two-week residential program is for rising 11th and 12th grade high school students who are enthusiastic about pursuing a career in the pharmaceutical sciences, clinical research, biotechnology or other areas of STEM.

The N.C. Department of Transportation offers a year-round, paid internship program for high school students across North Carolina. Interns work part-time for one or more semesters and gain hands-on experience in various NCDOT roles.
This program provides participants with the opportunity to:- Gain valuable hands-on work experience
- Learn about various employment positions at NCDOT
- Make future career choices within NCDOT
- Work directly with NCDOT hiring managers to customize the internship experience.
- Participate in meetings, educational tours and other activities
- Broaden perspective of public service and state government employment
Eligibility Requirements:
Must be a current NC high school student
At least 16 years old at time of employment
Minimum 2.3 GPA (on a 4.0 scale)
GPA transcript required with application

- Camps are offered as day camps and residential camps, depending on grade level.
- Residential engineering camps are primarily geared toward rising 11th and 12th grade students.
- Students participate in team-based challenges, design activities, and real-world engineering applications.
Agriculture Pathway Note

- There are agriculture-related summer camps available, but those programs are best suited for rising 11th and 12th grade students.
- While this opportunity is being shared with agriculture teachers, the engineering camps are STEM-focused and may not align directly with all agriculture coursework.

Wake Technical Community College -AUTOMOTIVE SYSTEMS TECHNOLOGY Scholarship

Students will train in the brand-new Hendrick Center for Automotive Excellence on Wake Tech’s Scott Northern Wake Campus. This will essentially pay for their entire cost of the program.

The City of Raleigh's Digital Connectors Program provides technology and leadership training for Raleigh youth 9th to 12th grade. By participating as a Digital Connector, you can expand your leadership and technical skills while serving your community!
The upcoming Fall cohort will be active from August 20 to December 12. Program benefits include developing a deeper understanding of the digital divide, building leadership skills and a stipend.
