Greetings Buccaneer families!! My name is Dacia Kahan and I am eager to become a part of this wonderful Bryan Road Elementary School team!! I was born and raised in Raleigh, NC but moved to Greensboro, NC in 2002 to attend the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNC-G) on a soccer scholarship. There I received a bachelor’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology as well as a master’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders. As a scholar athlete, I had to be disciplined, focused, yet flexible both on and off the field. I have always had a passion to help children grow (intellectually, academically, socially, physically, etc…), which is why Speech therapy is the route I decided to take. Following higher education, I decided to become a school-based Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) in Guilford County Schools (2008-2022). I got married in March of 2021, had a baby boy in January 2022, and decided to move back to the Wake County area to be closer to family.

When I am not implementing therapy, writing reports, or holding meetings, I am generally spending time with family and friends! I also enjoy listening to music, exercising, cooking, and traveling. One fun fact about me is I have an identical twin sister who is also a speech therapist in the Wake County Public School System! 😊
