I am a Carolina girl! I was born and raised in Person County (Roxboro, North Carolina). I have lived in Wake County for the past 11 years. My husband Robert is a Web Developer and my best friend. I am blessed to be the mother of an amazing 7-year son, Masen. I guess I fit in the "seasoned teacher" category since I have reached the double digit milestone. I have served as a classroom teacher having taught 2nd and 3rd grades before becoming a School Library Media Coordinator. I am a two time graduate of North Carolina Central University (EAGLE PRIDE!!). I have a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education K-6 and a Master's of Library Science K-12 degree. I love spending time with my family and taking trips to the beach.

Why I teach...

I was fortunate to have some really amazing teachers throughout my years in elementary, middle school, high school, and college. I can look back and fondly say that I was made to feel like a valuable member of the learning community in each of their classrooms. Over the course of my career I have aspired and strived to make students feel the same way.
