Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Natalie Avilez

Mrs Avilez was born and raised in NYC. She is the daughter of two immigrants that migrated from Cali, Colombia. She attended Queens College City University of New York and has two bachelor's degrees, one in Elementary Education k-6 and the other in Spanish K-12 education. In the year 2010 she relocated with her family from NYC to raleigh and has loved being a part of this community.

Mrs. Avilez loves being a part of the Millbrook family because the school is such a tight community. Millbrook is such a positive and caring place where the teachers and students build relationships together that helps foster learning.

Mrs. Avilez hopes one day to become a world traveler, so far she has had the opportunity to travel to Colombia, Australia, Tahiti (french Polynesian Islands) and hopes to add many other countries to her list. These international experiences have enriched her life and career! Ms. Avilez is inspired to work with children because they are eager to learn about themselves, others, and the world.

Why I teach...

I teach to inspire curiosity! I love to share knowledge, share ideas, communicate concepts and inspire conversations. I teach to reach children, and see their progress develop over time.

Why I like working with kids...

I love that no single day at work is the same! I admire children’s endless energy, honesty, creativity, flexibility resilience and desire for knowledge. Children are, by nature, very curious. They are constantly sparking my curiosity and motivating me to be a continuous learner.
