I have proudly been teaching for 20 years! This is my 18th year at Millbrook Elementary and I feel this is my home away from home. I've taught 1st, 2nd, 5th and currently 3rd grade. I love to travel, read and watch movies. My husband Frank is my best friend and together we have 6 kids. Alex is 24, Marcus is 20, Nic is 19, Isaiah is 17, London is 9 and Kyleigh is 5. Our kids are the most important people in our lives and we love spending time together. I graduated from Millbrook High School here in Raleigh and then went to NC State University for two years. I earned my bachelor's degree and in Elementary Education and graduated from Methodist University in Fayetteville, NC . I have since earned my National Board certification in early childhood education. 

Why I like working with kids...

I have always been passionate about education. Knowledge is power and with that power we have the ability to change the world! Children bring truth, innocence, vitality and a perspective to the world and they should be valued for their contributions. I desire to see the difference they will one day make in our community and world.

Why I am excited about our school's theme, Environmental and Community Connections...

I absolutely love nature and spending time outdoors. I was raised in a small West Virginia town and the outdoors was my playground. My parents encouraged exploration, inquiry and compassion for the earth and all its inhabitants. I can't remember a time or a memory growing up that did not involve a camping trip, a night under the stars or a hike up a mountainside. I want to share that love and appreciation with my students.
