Hi! My name is Cara Leigh Morris. I started teaching at Millbrook in 2024.  Previously, I taught at a school in Texas through Teach for America. As a Raleigh native, I was grateful to move back to North Carolina! When I came back, I supported teachers working with refugee-identifying families in Durham before coming to Millbrook. I am very excited to use my skills learned while teaching in Texas and working with families and teachers in Durham while teaching at Millbrook.

I love having the opportunity to share my love for reading and writing with students. As such, I am passionate about creating an environment that encourages trying new things, asking questions, advocating for oneself, and supporting other students.

When I am not at school, you can find me spending time with my husband, Robert, and our awesome friends and family! We love hiking, reading, and taking trips to the mountains!

Why I love our environmental theme...

While growing up, I went for hikes with my parents at least once every week. As such, I grew to love being outdoors -- Even now, I feel calmer every time I step outside. I love getting to teach in a school where I can help foster a love of the outdoors among my students.
