Hello Eagle Families! Welcome to 4^th grade!!

My name is Catherine Laxton and I am so excited to be part of the 4^th grade team.  I am a transplant from the border of Pennsylvania and New York where I studied Early Childhood Education and Special Education at Lock Haven University. I moved to North Carolina, where I began my teaching career in first grade in 2015. Since then, I have taught Kindergarten, First, Second, and Third grades. I went back to school at Duke in 2019 for additional schooling and licensure in Academically and Intellectually Gifted Children.

I have studied a wide spectrum of education and it has led me to a deeper understanding that ALL children learn differently and have different needs. I am committed to helping students learn the best way that they can by providing different approaches to learning! 

I live here in Garner with my husband and 2 adorable fur babies, Gunner and Sophia. I enjoy hiking in the mountains, walking along the beach, traveling near and far, and exploring new places. 

I am so excited to see where the year takes us!
