Ms. Jeanna Leauma
Hello Eagles! My name is Jeanna Leauma. (LAY-OW-MA) It’s okay if you can’t pronounce it, most people call me Mrs. L and that’s fine with me! I am so excited to be a part of the Vandora Springs Elementary School family. After many years in education, as a special education teacher, classroom teacher and counselor, I still believe that preparing our children for the future is the most important work on the planet! I will strive to help every child grow both emotionally and academically, so that they can have every opportunity to be happy and live out their dreams. It would be my honor to gain your trust and support throughout the school year so that we can team up and make this the best year for every child!
After growing up in West Virginia, I went to college at Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania, where I earned dual certification in Elementary and Special Education. Following graduation from college, I accepted a position in special education in Clark County, Nevada (Las Vegas) and later went on to earn a Master’s in Educational Counseling. After getting married, my husband and I moved to southern California, where I taught 6th grade special education.Soon after starting our family, we moved to North Carolina, and our family has been growing roots here and loving it! My son is a senior at Willow Spring High School and my daughter is a 7th grader at Herbert Akins Middle School. We are a rugby and softball family. Most of our weekends are spent outdoors watching someone’s game and I wouldn’t change a thing!
