Ms. Deborah Griffin

I’m Mrs. Griffin! I love to read and write. I love helping all my students understand how to use their reading, writing, and speaking abilities to develop important critical thinking skills. My goal is to send independent learners to middle school and beyond! I’m originally from Virginia, but lived in Kentucky for many years. It was there that I started my teaching career as an instructional assistant.

When my children were in high school and college, I went back to school to earn my teaching certificate. I taught 5th grade in Lexington, Kentucky until I moved to North Carolina in 2014. After teaching 4th grade in Pender County, my husband and I moved to Raleigh, where I taught 4th and 5th grade at Smith Elementary. I’m so excited to be at Vandora Springs Elementary teaching 5th grade literacy. When I’m not teaching, I love to travel, especially to see my daughters and their families. One of them is a marine biologist, working on the NC Outer Banks, and the other is an elementary music teacher in Louisville, KY. I also love kayaking, camping, crafting, and taking wildlife photos!
