Hello, Rolesville High School families. This is Mrs. Lassiter calling with updates in preparation for upcoming weeks.
I want to shout out a thank you to the students based on comments from the teachers. I have heard over and over again this week that the teachers have had great classroom experiences this week and it has been a great start of the year for them. I have also heard students say that they have had great classroom experiences, so the compliments really go both ways.
Remember that we are out of school on Monday in observance of Labor Day. We also have early release on Friday, September 9th. Students will be released at 11:48. Staff will be in training on Friday after dismissal.
After school activity buses will begin their routes on Tuesday, Sept. 6th. This information is posted in classrooms and on the Student Services information board. Remember that the routes deliver to a regional area, not to a typical bus stop. Family members often need to meet riders when they are dropped off. Students who use the bus must have a pass from the coach or teacher with whom they have been working after school. Students who do not have a legitimate pass will not be allowed to ride the after school activity buses.
Senior conferences will begin with counselors on September 14th. Sophomore through senior students whose last names begin with N-Z will have a new counselor on board beginning Tuesday, Sept. 6th. Her name is Mrs. Jacqueline Harris.
Open House is set for Thursday, September 15th from 6:30-8:00 PM. Parents will begin with a brief meeting in the auditorium and will then follow your student’s schedule to meet the teachers and get detailed course information.
PTSA is switching its Zaxby’s evening to September 19th. Please make note on your calendar.
We sent letters home with students this week pertaining to the PSAT. I had questions about it from parents before the school year, so we are getting this information out as soon as we have gotten it. We will host the PSAT here on Saturday, October 15th at 7:30 AM. Registration must be completed online by September 16th which is a very quick turnaround. Please reference the letter for very important information.
The Wake County College Fair is set for September 18th from 2-4:30 PM at NC State University McKimmon Center.
Seniors and parents are invited to attend senior parent night on Sept. 20 at 6:30 PM. Please plan to attend as the counselors will present important information pertaining to the year. Seniors can now access the online school payments on our website to pay the $40 for senior fees. Please check the Parents tab on the website.
Any student interested in HOSA can attend the first interest meeting of the year on Wednesday Sept. 7th after school in room 2908 the meeting will begin right after school and all rides need to be here by 3:30. Mrs. Clayton will discuss membership dues, competition events, t-shirts, and leadership opportunities.
Lastly, I would like to thank the many, many voice mails, emails and face-to-face contacts from parents this week. I appreciate your overwhelming support. More importantly, I have had some remarkable conversations with individual Rams students this week. While I know and they know that change is hard, they individually told me that they understood. Rolesville High School has amazing students who want to be respected among high school communities. The team of adult and student leadership can make it happen. I have said it before and will say it again, RHS is a sleeping giant in the high school world.
Have a great weekend!
