• Planning for Friday and Saturday Graduation Events

    Hey, Senior Ram families,

I know you are wondering what the plan will be for Friday.  Will we be in the gym or in the stadium? Given the weather instability and predictions for Friday, it makes the most sense to move the ceremonies into the gym.

Those who participate in the Saturday pick-up will continue as planned on Saturday at the scheduled times.

I want to make sure that you understand that all who attend on Friday or Saturday MUST wear a mask for these indoor events.  Please bring your own mask.  Those who do not bring a mask will be given a mask to wear.

In the event that umbrellas are needed and come into the building wet, you will be given a bag to cover your umbrella to help us keep our floors dry and safe.

On Friday, seniors who drive separately need to park in the staff parking lot near the baseball and softball fields.  They must be in the auxiliary gym one hour before the ceremony begins.  We have several things to review and do before we move into the gym.  Make sure they have put cap, gown AND TASSEL in a place that it will not be forgotten.  We do not have spares to share.

Also on Friday, families need to enter campus from the main entrance near the football field off East Young Street.  All will be directed where to park.  Please plan to enter through the main entrance to the school.  Wear comfortable shoes, because many of you will walk from the area near the football field to the building.  It is a little bit of a hike.

Families will be allowed to enter the gym beginning 45 minutes before each ceremony begins.  Please be in your seats by 10 minutes before the ceremony.  We need to make sure everyone is in place for the procession to show our graduates the respect they deserve.  We cannot have families intermingled with the procession of seniors.

Handicapped and translation sections will be located near the gym entrances near the auditorium.  We will have staff to assist you with this specific seating or standing.

When the ceremony is over, graduates will need to go to the first floor commons to get diplomas and other items.  We need only graduates in that area.  We also need all who participated in the ceremony to help us by clearing campus by 9:30am or 12:30pm aligned with the ceremony to which your graduate has been assigned.  We must quickly prepare for the second ceremony and the Saturday diploma pick-up respectively.

On Saturday, students will be dropped off or park in the parking lot near the baseball and softball fields to enter through the 1900 pod stairwell. Families will park in the lot near the school and enter through the main hallway of the building.  Once inside, we will give seniors and families directions for your individual ceremonies.

Lastly, I need to give reminders about tickets.  All fees and fines MUST be paid by Thursday in order to pick up tickets for the Friday ceremonies.  We will not be clearing fees and fines or distributing tickets on Friday morning. There will be too many other things going on.  If you are one who needs to take care of this, do it Thursday.  Students who are participating in the Saturday events also need to clear fees and fines by Thursday. Tickets will be distributed on Saturday upon arrival.

That is all that I can think of right now.  If there is anything else I need to share, I will email you on Thursday.

The faculty looks forward to seeing you here soon!  Rain or shine, it is going to be a beautiful two days!

    Sincerely,

    Dhedra Lassiter, Principal
