Hello, Ram families!  This is Mrs. Lassiter calling from RHS with the weekly updates.

First, Jostens will be back on Wednesday for anyone who wants to place a ring or graduation products order.  Deposits are $60.  Basic gown, cap and tassels are $45, so the $60 assumes that orders would exceed $45.  Remember that orders can also be done at Jostens.com.  Parents of seniors, remember that caps, gowns and tassels are required to participate in awards and graduation ceremonies.

Also, senior parents, remember that students must clear fees and fines in order to graduate.  Senior fees are $20 for mid-year grads and $40 for June grads.

Freshman parents, some of you will get a form for permission to participate in taping with East Wake TV on Tuesday.  They are coming to do a feature story on our Freshman Academy.

Online pre-registration for the Rams Scare Run is closed.  If you wish to participate, you may register between 2:30 and 3:30 on Saturday.  The cost will be $10 for the Family Scare Walk/Run and $40 per person for the 5K.  Please come out to support our athletic department and student athletes.

On Saturday, Wake Tech is holding financial aid assistance for FAFSA day.  It is not necessary for students to attend Wake Tech if they want assistance.  This event supports students who wish to attend other colleges, too.

Seniors who were identified as CTE concentrators are required to take the WorkKeys State Assessments scheduled in November.  If your son or daughter received a WorkKeys Assessment letter, he or she is required to take this exam.  Mrs. Long, the Instructional Management Coordinator will provide each student with his or her specific testing date and location.  The testing window for WorkKeys Assessments for RHS will begin on November 14th.  If you have any questions contact Mrs. Long @ ulong@wcpss.net.

Beginning Monday, November 7 through Monday, November 14, counselors will be facilitating small group conferences with all sophomores.  This process reviews requirements for graduation and helps students reflect on progress toward credit achievement.

Students who are interested in getting credit for a course for which they think they have adequate proficiency without taking the course have an opportunity to apply and demonstrate the competencies.  The application period for Credit by Demonstrated Mastery opens Nov. 14th.  Information can be found on our school website.  Additionally, there are CDM information sessions.  Locally, the closest session will be at Knightdale HS on Nov. 17th from 6-7:30 PM.  Additional sessions are listed on the site.

So here is an odd request, but it really is a good thing.  Many of our students want to take beginning guitar.  We have a limited number of loaner instruments and some of our students cannot provide their own instrument.  If you have a guitar that you would like to donate, we could give it a loving home at RHS.

Lastly, don’t forget that next weekend is Reindeer Days.  We are still in need of help for Friday evening set up and Saturday support.

That will do it for this week.  Make it a great weekend!
