• Hello, Ram Families!

I hope you are all hanging in there.

I am sure you have as many questions as we have in this incredibly challenging time.  As you well know, we are working our way through the transition to online learning given that we will be out of the school building until at least May 15th.

There is much work to do to prepare to learn and teach remotely when new material rolls out on April 13th.  For now, we will continue to use supplemental materials to review prior learning. You may receive contacts from teachers with a tailored review or you may use the WCPSS Remote Learning Resource site.  It would be worth your time to review the WCPSS site as this will likely be referenced often in the coming weeks.

While staff awaits the parameters for instructional expectations beginning April 13th, they are meeting virtually, prioritizing the material that students genuinely need to complete this year to be prepared for future learning and testing methods for virtual delivery of instruction and communication.  As the direction from the county develops and as our teachers consult with one another, we can begin to prepare students for this next phase.

In the meantime, we need all families to help us get the most accurate information as possible related to multiple means of access to you.

    1.  First, please make sure we have your correct parent phone numbers and parent email address in our PowerSchool system.  Teachers will be reaching out to get the most accurate information that we can get and update in our system. This information is critical to multiple applications like Talking Points and School Messenger which we regularly use.
    2. Secondly, it is very important that all students regularly access their WCPSS student email account.  Please have students do this as soon as possible. Teachers are sending emails out now to try to establish lines of communication.
    3. If you are not on Parent Portal, we will probably need to get you connected to allow you to monitor student progress.
    4. If you do not follow us on Twitter, please add us to your follow list.

We have attempted to reach families of students from whom we have not gotten registration information (rising 10th, 11th and 12th graders).  We are desperately in need of hearing from those students. In some cases, we have not gotten responses to our pleas through email and Twitter to connect with Mr. Miller, Dean of Students.  It is vital to our preparations that we hear from students or we will have to select classes based on their needs to graduate on time. Please make every effort to contact Mr. Miller at temiller@wcpss.net on Wednesday, March 25th, to determine how you can request classes for next year.

Lastly, RHS will become a food distribution site on Wednesday, March 25th.  We will be open from 11 AM-1 PM. We hope that having a site in the area will provide relief for families in need.

Regarding those students who have registered for AP courses for next year, Mr. Miller needs AP agreements and AP testing contracts to be scanned (or a picture) and emailed to him at temiller@wcpss.net

Also, Mrs. Ellis, our Career Development Coordinator, is hosting virtual office hours to answer questions about resumes, CCP, interviews, jobs and more.  She will make herself available from 11 AM to noon Monday through Friday. You will need to join Hangouts http://meet.google.com/rns-sbay-ufr or phone+1 475-289-6144 PIN: 951507169#. She will address appointments first come, first served.

I miss you all so much, Rams!  I am so proud of the musical posts on Instagram and for the uplifting emails that I have gotten from you.  You are the best.

Hang in there.  If you need us, feel free to reach out.  We are all in this trying to figure it out together.

    Sincerely,

    Mrs. Lassiter, Principal
