November 10, 2016
Hello, Ram families! This is Mrs. Lassiter calling early this week with announcements from Rolesville High School.
First of all, remember that we will be out of school on Friday, November 11th in observance of Veterans Day. Thank you to all who have served!
Again, thanks to all who supported Reindeer Days. It was a huge success!
Next week, November 14 through November 18 is CFNC College Application Week. Students must create a CFNC account before their scheduled meeting time next week. Go to cfnc.org to create your account. Only those students who have signed up will receive a pass to get assistance with completing their college applications while at school.
We have set a picture makeup day for 9th, 10th and 11th graders for November 17th.
The vendor that handles background checks for school volunteers is scheduled to purge the names of former volunteers at the close of business Nov. 18. While most of the names being removed are no longer volunteers in our schools, it is possible the names of current volunteers could be purged from the list. This would force them to register again. It is very important that any current volunteers who registered before July 1, 2016 renew volunteer registration now.
The Rolesville Athletic Boosters are pre-selling Boston Butts to support athletics are RHS. They have extended the sales deadline to Monday evening at 6 PM. They will be 8-10 pounds and cost $35. The Boston Butts will be cooked on Tuesday, November 22nd and should be picked up the same day between 1 and 5 PM at the football stadium. Forms can be found online at www.racnc.com. If you would like to purchase online, you can go to www.racnc.com to order and use your PayPal account.
We continue to collect canned foods for Hurricane Matthew relief. Boxes have been placed near the office and on each floor for donations.
I mentioned in an earlier voice mail that WCPSS is sharing information now for students who are interested in showing mastery of content in order to earn credits without actually sitting for a course. This process is known as Credit by Demonstrated Mastery. Students are required to test and to complete a project that will be reviewed to determine if a student, indeed, has mastery level knowledge of a course. In order to understand the process, there is a meeting at Knightdale HS on Nov. 17th at 6 PM. It is important that families attend if they are considering this process to accelerate addition of course completion/mastery to a transcript.
Sophomore conferences with counselors will continue through Nov. 14th. Students will be reminded about requirements for graduation and they will discuss progress toward graduation. We also hope to provide information about National Honor Society in these meetings to help students understand requirements well in advance.
PTSA has a meeting Monday evening. We look forward to seeing you then.
That will do it for this week. Have a great weekend!
